It was controversial. Did you see it? It was a movie about a man being beaten for what seemed like a really long time. I think Ropert reviewed it by noting that although it's a good movie it had about 30 minutes of plot, and the other hour and a half was devoted to the beating, torture, and death of Jesus. The Jewish community feared there would be anti-semetic backlash.

Personally I found the movie to be ridiculous. The begining was boring and then the beating scenes were just outrageous. I'm glad I didn't pay to see it. I give it credit for it's cinematography but that's about it.
