I picked it up and haven't played it yet. Am I going to be disappointed, since I didn't enjoy Oblivion?

Depends. I liked Oblivion but not THAT much. I LOVE D.A. However there are enough similarities that you might not like it. One thing is that the story is 100 times better and more engrossingly told than in Oblivion. Another is that the game play mechanics are far better than in Oblivion. For one thing the monsters don't level with you.

ahh i see, so you prefer the most over-rated franchise to a single over-rated game?

Have you ever played tactics? It has pretty much nothing to do with the rest of the franchise. Not sure what my #1 game of all time would be but, Final Fantasy Tactics definitely comes in the top 5.

I got "Dragon Aged" too :| Bought the game because of the "OMG BEST INCREDIBLE PC EXPERIENCE EVER NEXT TO A VIRTUAL VAGINA BEING INSTALLED IN YOUR DRIVE BAY!!!" reviews.

Then I played the game, sat through 30 minutes of "These thou thoseth thou thy them thy thouseth" talk, got to kill something for 10 seconds, then it repeated.

Game was freakin' awful! I forced myself to play it for the first week, thinking it would grow on me, then it just got worse. I still have it installed and told myself I would finish it for punishment if I ever screw anything up.

I liked the game, but i dont like cut scenes in games

CoD: MW2. I was so looking forward to it, but the single player is just too short to be much fun, and the game is so consolized (no lean?!!) that it's pathetic.

Edit: Most overrated game ever is anything in the Halo series, though. Especially that excuse for an RTS they released. I saw someone playing it on their 360 - it was just "select units, tell them to kill stuff, make more units, kill more stuff over there." There didn't seem to be any strategy or unit balance involved.

If you buy MW2 for the single player than you have missed the point entirely.

From what I've played I'd pick the New Super Mario Bros Wii. I just don't really get the appeal of 2D sidescrolling platformers these days. Those days are done... give it up nintendo.

Not at all. What a stupid thing to say. If anything we need more good side-scrolling games. That being said, I wasn't impressed with the game, and I do feel that Nintendo really copped out. Hey, we'll make Mario and make it 4 players. They're not even trying to push gaming any more. They have good ideas but then half-ass it so it ends up mediocre. That's really how I feel about their stuff these days. Mario Galaxy is about the only one that I'd really say is like the Nintendo I expect. Twilight Princess was good, but how many games do we need a light and dark world?

Also, it sounds like the multiplayer in NSMB is more of a hindrance than a help. The old Nintendo would have had competitive modes, but the main game would have had parts where co-op was needed and used in an interesting way.

What? He said one game.

I wouldn't say the monsters not leveling with you makes for better game. I had a friend that had a big problem with that fact, but it was never a problem for me. Of course I actually thought the game was too easy, but part of that is that I got some of the best equipment in the game about 1/4 of the way through (Umbraga's stuff, I ended up using the sword for the rest of the game and it slaughtered everything). Plus there's a difficulty slider so you can always change it. I liked Oblivion, but yeah it was far from perfect.

Gotta be MW2. Who plays a FPS on a console, anyways.

Yeah, because it wasn't on PC...oh wait.

Hmm, I can't even think of any games I've bought in the past year other than DA:O, Final Fantasy Tactics A2 (DS), and Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood (DS). The first is excellent, and the last has been a pleasant surprise.

Oh wait, I also got Batman: Arkham Asylum, but I refuse to even open it before buying an HDTV. And given that I'm in grad school and perpetually broke, that day is likely at least a few years off. Sigh.

Based on the replies thus far, though, I suppose I should be glad I never sprang for MW2.

+1000 MW2. I wish lemmings would stop buying that grind-out-as-many-sequels-as-humanly-possible franchise.

It's the same game people! THE SAME FRICKIN' GAME!

Modern Warfare 2 without a doubt. Nice try at sticking it to Dragon Age though. Dragon Age is great!
