Beat this: I've run an ISA Trident 8900C 1 MB video card with Windows XP.

It was on a BX mobo by the way, and I'm still using that motherboard, now with a Celery Tualatin.

My Voodoo 3 died only after a couple of years use, but I was overclocking the crap out of it.

BTW, my Apple II+ clone still works.

I have a 10 year old Samsung Syncmaster 17" monitor that has outlived the 3 computers that I've used it on. Best $700 I have ever spent.

Commodore64!!
Damn thing survived a plug into 240v. Yes, I was to blame for it. It had a fuse in it that just needed replacement, and then was back to working. This was more than 12 years back me thinks. I havn't tried it recently, but I think it still works.

I've got a 15" Dell monitor that's 13 years old and still going, although it's picky as to what video cards it'll work on.

A 10 year old WD 850MB hdd. Still running somewhere in Mexico.

Probably next reliable would be either soundcards or USR External Modems.

isn't the reason we have these spongier keyboards these days...so we don't get carpel's tunnel syndrome or howveer its spelled

Wow.. you've got mine beat by four years!

As for carpel tunnel, I doubt spongy keyboards help... they require more force than the clickers do..

more force = more fatigue. Honestly, I think it's the 'disposable' mentality.. they are cheaply made and don't last nearly as long.

The IBMs also weigh about 5 pounds each (literally) and could probably double as a hammer or a defensive weapon if necessary.

~ pen mightier than sword, but for ninja, even keyboard deadly weapon!

had a 10 year old system that was running fine untill a little bit ago when we decided it was time for the trash can. an old P1 100 mhz (oc'd 20%... to 120) on god knows what motherboard in an old AT case with way old video/sound and everything, but it did a fine job as a server and as my computer back in Middle School (i remember doing lots of projects with friends in my room on that old thing)

Mine too. Some keys aren't working, so I took it apart to clean. 19 years of grime--nasty!
I'm now using a spongy IBM, and missing about every 15-20 key strokes bcause I can't feel if I hit it all the way!

I couldn't agree more. I have one that was made in 1983... but damn, it's just so nice to work on, even if it is noisy.
