I have to give props to ASUS.

THIS simple: (not that NE of U actually keep your PC's for over 5 yrs, butNEwayz)

I'm typing from my parents P200 on an ASUS board...over Christmas break, I've visited ASUS's site about 3 times lookin' for BioS updates, Nfo on its RAM capabilities (LACK THEREOF), and Proc. spex...and I must say...they support EVERYTHING that they put out...and DON'T QUITE supporting it after it's no longer popular...so if you're lookin' to have this thing around for another 5-10yrs...U might consider ASUS for the fact that they support their boards... completely and thoroughly!

my $.02

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

I have been selling boards for 2 years now, and i can honestly say that Asus does have a great support section on their site as far as info, patches, bios, drivers whatever compared to other manufacturers. BUT,you pay for it, it's included in the cost of their mobo's. It has to be, think about it, they do not have a superior way of manufacturing boards. There is absolutely no difference in workmanship in comparison with say Soyo for example.

I have had more problems with MSI boards than any other manufacturer, especially the K7T Pro and the 6330 prior to that. So, that put a sour taste in my mouth for MSI products. I personally prefer and buy Soyo now. Once in a while i might stray and try out an iWill KA266-R, or something else, but i mostly stick to Soyo now. The Dragon in my opinion is one of the top 5 boards out there right now. I like their product and i have virtually no headaches with it. Thats not to say i wouldn't purchase an Asus product, i just can't see paying the extra bucks for the same quality.

No arguement here that Asus has good boards and good support, but I have yet to see a shread of evidence that establishes Asus' quality as being better than other motherboards (with the possible exception of MSI).
Until tazdevl (or someone else) produces that evidence, it's nothing but a myth.

I would agree that the Soyo Dragon+ is a very good board at a decent price IF you need all those integrated features. If you don't need/want those extra features, the Epox 8KHA+ is a high-performing board at a great price. It finished near the top in THG's recent shootout and is well supported by both Epox and the user-community!

Merry Christmas everyone...

The person that had 5 bad 8kha+ boards was Pabster. Obviously it was user error or he is bsing. Who try the same board model 5 times?

Asus doesn't make better quality boards just because they're a tier 1 board maker.

I'm a loyal fan of MSI still, I just bought a MSI K7T266 Pro2 -RU to replace my
K7T-Turbo-R (133a). I have had 0 problems with that board.

I'm kinda nervous about trying ABIT again. I had 2 board die after the warrenty period
Ka7 and Ka7-raid.

I also have a couple Asus boards, they are rock solid are more $, my good old P3V4x
is running my W2K Server 24x7 (800mhz @ 992) without a hitch.
