Motherboard and RAM compatible?

I'm helping someone with a new build who cose the ASRock P55 Extreme motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...2&ref=dynamitedata.com

They had also ordered the following Patriot Viper RAM that's listed as 1.7V: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...6&ref=dynamitedata.com

Can the motherboard support RAM at this voltage? Are these picks compatible?

Since the IMC is on the processor itself, it's the processor that determines how much RAM voltage it can take. Generally it's considered that even 1.65v is too high for an intel i5/i7. 1.7 is definitely too high, do NOT use it. Tell the guy to return the ram for some 1.5-1.6v rated ram, or else he's probably gonna fry his i5/i7 in short order
