Well I was wondering if anyone has ever encoutered such problems before.
I have an MSI K7N2G Delta, just bought it NEW.
The computer has been up and running fine for like 3 weeks now...no probs. The only thing that happed in those 3 weeks was I had to manually shutdown the pc 2 days ago (just figured the screen saver might have locked up or something becuase the power button shutdown wasn't working and the screen was in hibernation mode). Next thing I know I have the blue screen of death and the infamous Driver_IRQ_NOt _LESS_.... or equal.
So I try restarting and nothing, had to hard switch it off and then restart. After a couple more reboots I finally got into windows, and was trying to run diagnostics and it went blank. I doubt it was an overheating issue becuase my cpu has been less than 35C through usage and was reading no more than that during the failure.
After some tough times trying to restart (where most restarts did nothing to power on the monitor...and some hard boots just sat in idle before the bios screen with the hd light stuck doing nothing) I finally got into the bios. I also noted that the freq on startup was saying only 1000MHz. First hint of MB problem. In the cpu setting's the fsb was at 200 and the multiplier at 10 but the cpu frequency still said 1000MHz. I tried 200x9 with no change, had to hard reboot after BIOS save/restart didn't work. So I went to default MB settings and had little luck.
I put in a differnt memory chip and nothing, no change...I would tweak the bios a bit, the changes wouldn't really take affect and I would struggle with restart. I tried a different power supply which I know worked with my another system and now it wouldn't even post (just spinning fan). I tried a third PS and no luck either. I then went back to the original PS and the fans sounded weird/weak so I just shut it down.
I am assuming the motherboard is dying. I removed it and can't see anything/traces burnt/discolored or anything...no leaking or buldging caps though. I checked out the cpu and it looks fine. As well as the video card. Just for the inconsistent restarts, the unequal cpu frequency in the bios, and the fans being weak on the last go around I have narrowed it down to the motherboard. I have dealt with hard drive problems before and I also doubt its that. The board didn't even wanna post on the last go around.
Opinions? Feedback? Suggestions? THanks
