Motherboard CMOS WON'T RESET!~!~

Here's the problem:

My computer was working fine for about a month(Abit KX7-333R, Athlon XP 2000+), and one day I went into the BIOS and changed the Enhance DRAM Performance to Enabled. Then I reboot and the computer would not boot up and nothing was displayed on the screen. So I went to reset the CMOS and it STILL won't boot up. I've done everything. I've even disconnected the ATX power connector, taken out the CMOS battery and set the CMOS jumper to discharge and left it for a few hours and it still won't boot. I know it is not my video card because I tried it with a different one and it did the same thing. How might I get my CMOS to reset?

Are you getting a post beep at all?

Yanking out the battery for 3-4hrs usually works everytime.

Heck Ive even yanked a battery & left it out overnight just to be sure.
(i was sleeping anyway..lol)

I know it is not my video card because I tried it with a different one and it did the same thing

Youd get a beep code if it was the video card and the board was booting, but not being displayed onscreen.

Try leaving the battery out overnight. (i know, its overkill, but when all else fails...)

No, I am not getting a POST beep. Does that mean the mobo is dead? Yeah i'll try leaving the battery out overnight.

No, it doesnt mean its dead for sure.

But you can rule out the video card issue you were referring to earlier, cuz no post = no signal to the monitor.

Dont lose hope yet, my MSI KT3 Ultra wouldnt reset the cmos after i left the battery out for 3hrs, yanked power & moved the cmos jusmper for 2hrs and that didnt work either.

I thought for sure the mobo was dead.

Then as a last resort, i left the battery out overnight, & sure enough, it booted in the morning & has been running trouble free since then.

If it doesnt seem to be booting in the morning.

Godown to the bare essentials.
Reseat cpu, ram & only hdd hooked up.

BTW: some mobos like my MSI wont boot unless theres a fan plugged into the the cpu fan header on the mobo.
There is an option to turn off that fan detection in the bios.
But if you reset the bios, it defaults to ON.

So if I had my cpu fan hooked directly to my power supply & reset my bios, my mobo will not boot.
I would HAVE to hook a fan to that cpu fan header on the mobo to get it to boot, so i could turn off the cpu fan protection in the bios.

So if your mobo does the same thing, that may be it also.

Did you also disconnect the ATX power and move the CMOS jumper to discharge while you were doing it? Just wanted to make sure because I go to bed in an hour... lol.

Pulled power but didnt bother moving the jumper again.
No need to with the battery out.
