Motherboard/PSU issues

I was simply playing a game on my machine, then suddenly my machine froze, I hit the powers switch. The machine powered down, but never up again.

SOOOOO, I unplugged the PSU, plugged it back in, when i unplugged it, the motherboard light blank once. When i plugged it back in, and powered it on, it blank once also.

I unfastened the battery from the motherboard and the light on the motherboard turns solid(as long as the PSU is on) when i insert the battery, instantly turns off.

When i go to boot, I get nothing: no fans, no lights, no post of any kind. Literally no response at all.

I would take the assumption that this is the PSU, considering the PSU fan does not even spin, but I am no expert in this category.

Any help is always much appreciated.

Thanks

Under a bit more inspection, I took the machine apart, and plugged in the PSU stand alone, no fan, not any type of response.

First of all, DO NOT remove/reinstall the battery in the board while there is power to the board.

Next, your power supply will not start without a load. Try this:

It's entirely possible that if your power supply died, it may have taken other parts with it. What kind of power supply is it? (manufacturer and model number please)

Like Boomer asked, the make and model of the power supply is very important. Cheapie generic models have a high failure rate and would not surprise any of us if it died.

It's a very goo d power supply...but before you spend the money, make sure your Thermaltake (not great quality) unit is dead. The problem MAY be the PSU, or it MIGHT be something else.
