Ok so here it goes,

My Current Rig:
- ABIT IP35-PRO
- Intel C2D E8400
- Patriot X-treme DDR2800 2g (x2)
- Seagate Barracuda 7200.1 320g sata drive
- EVGA GeForce 8800GT 512 MB gddr3 PCI-E 2.0
- 24" Widescreen Samsung LCD screen
- Antec Sonata III case
- Vista 64 Business

What I am tryin to accomplish is upgrade my computer for around $700 and in the mean time piece together a computer for my fiance outa the "scrap". Only thing possibly usable out of her current computer would be the Vid Card and the Hard Drive. (keep in mind were upgrading mine to upgrade hers).
I think i want to upgrade my motherboard seeing how ABIT didnt have much support for the 45nm wolfdale's and no longer puting out updated bio's. I would like an SLI board. Alot of variables here has my head spinning about 5 million diffrent directions like a kid in a candy store. Any and all help would be appreciated. Any more info you need just ask.
What i am thinking is to buy her the E5400,using my motherboard and ram. So in a nutshell whats a stable SLI board for the E8400 that will not cost a shit ton for a dieing slot.

I am telling you right now, UD3P or UD3R - no other

With this route, you will be able to upgrade to a quad in the future and run some high fsb like mine in my sig

I am selling my M2F board for the simple reason it can't

MIIF board at the time I bought it 279$

UD3R board at the time i bought it 114$

funny thing is i had alrdy looked at the UD3P just wasnt sure because it supports xfire and not SLI ... guess i could prolly squeeze two video cards instead of 1 in there somehow lol.

Are there any similiar boards that can run SLI? and anyone know if you have to have exact matches of vid cards to take advantage of SLI and/or xfire?

If you want to run SLI with a C2D it has to be an nVidia chipset, and those seem to be a hassle and often more trouble than they are worth. I rarely hear much good about them, although some of the other nVidia chipsets seem OK.

What I usually tell folks building new computers that want to SLI is, go i7 and X58.
