Mouse, delay while moving - Logitech

My Logitech MX Revolution has started becoming really annoying when I move it around the screen. It delays, stutters, and during a tutter won't even take button presses. It never floats around on its own on the screen which is what I see most people asking about here. This seems just like stuttering caused by a bad connection if possible. Anyone know if there's a known solution? I seem to always get this eventually with mice. Is it just nearing its end?

i remember this from a while back. but i honestly forgot what the issue was.. although i'm pretty sure it is a conflict between SetPoint (the logitech drivers) and ONE MILLION F* OTHER SOFTWARES because while logitech hardware is pretty sweet, their drivers need to die in a fire.

so. are you using setpoint? have you uninstalled something a little while ago?

find some sort of driver sweeper, google how to remove setpoint, nuke it from orbit, and use the mouse w/o the drivers. it should work just fine.

So funny, I just uninstalled the Logitech software I had on my computer. You know, the stuff that's supposed to make using the mouse better? And the mouse is better even without a reboot. Bizarre, Logitech. Bizarre. There is still a bit of stutter but I think hat might be the age of the mouse? It's not my pad as it's a soft textured solid opaque colour pad.

Thanks

Ok. I'm charging it right now, but I'm currently on a wired Microsoft optical with the same mousepad and its perfect. So the mousepad definitely isn't the problem. Very confused.

All I've ever done is plugged in the MS mouse. The Logitech I HAD installed the drivers because that's what the instructions tell you to do when you buy the mouse.

Yeah... I've never installed SetPoint or any of the garbage Logitech calls "drivers." Going on 3 MX Revolutions, 2 Performance MX mice, their solar keyboard, and a bunch of crappier wireless keyboards.

My only gripe is that they keep using those terribad Omron microswitches for the mouse buttons. At least I now know how to take apart mice and solder a new switch in...

Ugh.... uninstalling software and drivers has totally not helped. The mouse is still delayed and freezing while I'm moving it. Is there anything else I can do like cleaning the lens maybe? I'm losing my mind. In fact, I think it's cramping my wrist.

For me Logitech mice don't last as long as their keyboards do. I currently hate mine, double clicks everything on a single click and can no longer drag anything, like for resizing windows. I've read that I either need to replace a part in it or just get a new one. Not impressed by them at all anymore, they used to be really good too...

I avoid SetPoint like the plague with my MX. Also make sure it's not near a USB 3.0 port that's being used...because for whatever reason logitech FORGOT that it could get interference with the USB 3.0 ports...that are in every computer now.

Oh, the Logitech Gaming Software is just as butchered when it comes to making things 'better'.

The only thing I can think of besides dirty sensor/hardware malfunction is the location of the receiver. If I stick it in a USB port (either 2 or 3) whose surrounding ports are occupied, there's a crap ton of interference and I get the problems you describe even at a distance of only 2-3 feet. Happened across two different cases.

You'd be replacing the microswitches... which is stupid easy if you can use a screwdriver and have even basic soldering skills. The microswitches themselves can be found all over ebay - they're usually some variant of an Omron D2F-series. Or you can swap your right-click with your left-click first to see if that works.

I just gave up on expecting Logitech mice to last more than a year or two. But I'm ok with spending a buck and 15 minutes of time to fix it instead of buying a new mouse.

Well, for anyone interested, it looks like getting the USB dongle for the mouse away from 3.0 ports and away from the back of the computer at all helped big time. I don't know if it's working because of closer proximity to the mouse itself now or if it really was an interference issue with the mouse's wireless frequency but that did it. So strange. Funny how many things like this aren't known at all by the average consumer who doesn't know to check on Anandtech. Imagine all the chucked mice that people don't bother investigating. I know my brother is somebody like that... "hmm, mouse is acting weird, chuck it, drive to Best Buy..." ugh...

Yep, USB 3.0 causes interference. I find that entertaining that they wouldn't shield the device or change the communication spectrum to protect this from happening.

Then again, we're talking about modern day corporations so the biggest motivators are how much more money can we make off of this device?

As for Logitech's drivers and software, I use something called Logitech Gaming Software that goes along with my Logitech G500, and not only is it near perfect, they keep updating the software and it gets sweeter and sweeter.
