Mouse going flaky... (UPDATED)

Ok, I have a corded Logitech optical mouse that I've had for years now, and it's been great. Recently, the left button has been somewhat flaky. I start to drag and drop a file, and the file will be dropped before I ever let go of the mouse button. Or I'll be attempting to select text, move a window, etc.

Sooo, it's time to replace it. I also have a corded NEC keyboard (that I love).

In looking to replace the mouse, I am planning on going with laser rather than optical as the precision should be much better, and might even help in those first person shooters...

So my question: What should I get? Corded or cordless, laser, dual laser, mouse and keyboard combo...and what brand / model would you suggest?

Depends on your preferences really....

I personally like corded mice and cordless keyboard combo. I can move my keyboard to the ground with ease if I needed more workspace. I have a logitech elite keyboard and laser G5 mouse. I love both.

Thanx for the reply. I'm thinking about the G5. Just read up on in on CNET.

I'm also going through a KVM switch and I've heard that most of the cordless sets don't work through it.

So I'll probably end up with a G5, and keep my keyboard.

Yeah, I love logitech mouses. I had a microsoft intellimouse before and after switching to a simple mx300, I fell in love. The weights add a nice touch, so you can customize it to the perfect weight for your hand or use. Good idea to keep your keyboard, save some money since you already like it. No reason to get a new one.

I definitely prefer Logitech mice/keyboards over Microsoft. I've been using an older cordless "Duo" for the last 1.5 years. The mouse is an MX700 w/ combo charge/receiver. I've never had a problem and the included NiMH batteries still hold a charge for at least a week, and the lower battery notification still gives me plenty of time of usage before charging is required. I've never been stuck without the mouse because of dead batteries and I don't notice any lag.
