I have a Logitech MX Performance wireless mouse on a system with: Asus X79 Deluxe mobo, Core i7-4930K CPU, 64GB RAM, EVGA GeForce GTX 780, Samsung 840 Pro SSD, Windows Pro 8.1 x64. The mouse receiver is plugged into a USB 2.0 port on the mobo's I/O panel. I'm using the Logitech mouse driver downloaded from their web site.
When I move the mouse around with the cursor on the desktop, it frequently skips and stutters. In other words, the cursor doesn't move smoothly, but hesitates and pauses in places. This is somewhat correlated with CPU activity, but not completely. Even when the system is very lightly loaded, say with only Chrome running with a few pages open in tabs, this happens.
When I plug an old Microsoft USB Intellimouse into the system, the cursur does not stutter -- it moves smoothly around the screen.
So why would a $100 mouse stutter like this, while an ancient, $10 mouse works just fine?
