Moving to Oregon, leaving Alaska

After living 95% of my adult life in Alaska, I'm returning to Oregon. Other than 1.5 years in 1995-1996, I have been here since 1989. I moved moved to Alaska from Oregon in the first place to go to college.

This is an exciting time, and a stressful time. I have a lot of work to do and a lot of logistical problems to solve.

Brutuskend, we'll be virtual neighbors real soon. Sorry I didn't stop by last week when I was down for my interview. Too much stuff to do! I had to be fingerprinted, interviewed twice and go to a physical exam. So I never did get a chance to look you up. Soon, though!

I should be back in Oregon after all these years right about the first of August. Viper GTS, Nik, Rossman, Narzy we'll definitely do something when I get there. Vic, you live down there too, right? Eli? Trying to remember all you guys.

Another good piece of advice. I used to live like a mile or two away from the Oregon Country Fair, an annual event that the locals called "The Hippie Fair".

Yes, I will miss the Alaska PFD (permanent fund dividend) checks, and I won't enjoy paying state income tax (which we don't in Alaska). But at least there is no sales tax in either state, and in Oregon a bag of Doritos doesn't cost $5.00 and bananas aren't 99 cents a pound and your choices are green and brown.

Isnt Alaska Wicked cold? And excluded from a lot of things? Just curious whats the temp there at this time of year? Ive always wanted to visit....

It depends on where you're at..

The southern parts of Alaska aren't really that bad.. Much like the rest of the Pacific Northwest.. Just a bit cooler.

It has been in the seventies and eighties the last couple of weeks. More chilly today, due to clouds and rain. Of course the concert I went to was outside. :disgust:

Holy Cow, Todd! I didn't see this response at first! Yes, I will be living in my old house. How cool that you saw this post. I'll be seing you in a couple of weeks, then! Uhhhhh. I gained weight, BTW. But we're manly men and we won't mind.... right?
