My MSI mobo is working. I haven't had much experience with them though, but I love their technical writing (at least with mobo's).

And everything they make doesn't suck. They made quiet, excellent overclocking 5900's at the time.

im in the same boat, leaning towards eVGA tho.

I might even for over the extra money and pay 318 for the evga 7800gt CO

eVGA, then ditch the heatsink and stick on an arctic cooling HSF or the Zalman 700 ALCU.

Then laugh in an evil, gloating manner.

eVGA allows you to OC and change the HS and still have a lifetime warranty....MSI doens't....and I am willing to be that MSI hasn't released new BIOSes yet, eVGA has.

Of course i only learnt of this warranty after i'd already bought my XFX card

Still, 505/1200 is nothing to sneer at

I will not be overclocking, I just want to know how MSI performs. And what does BIOSes have to do with anything? And what is "HSF"?

What kind of warrenty does MSI have?

look at my sig. I have 2 MSI products...both are flawless. Id like to see half the people with 7800gtxs get my OC with stock cooling.

If you're not overclocking then why are you wasting all this time on the subject? The difference between an eVGA and an MSI at the same speeds is negligable. The differences you see are from overclocking, most of them are factory overclocked. That's why there's a difference. If you look at the core and memory speed values you'd notice this.

Buy whatever you want to. But i would buy the eVGA as it makes overclocking so ridiculously easy it's stupid not to, and it doesn't void the waranty.

You won't go bad with MSI. "HSF" stands for HeatSink+Fan.

If I was you, I'd get which ever one is cheaper. The performance difference isn't much between manufacturers anyway.

you have a GT, i have a GTX, they have DIFFERENT core and memory speeds so dont lump them together and compare.

1) How much of a performance gain in % will you see by overclocking the eVGA? (stock cooling.)
2) What about MSI? (Stock cooling.)
3) What game is bundled with MSI card? I hear some people got Call Of Duty 2 on newegg, some got riddick. If its COD2, thats another 35-40 bucks knocked off the sticker price (ebay.) if its riddick, thats only like 15-20.

And I still don't know what warrenty MSI has? Is it just worth the 65-85 dollars difference to get eVGA?

I can definitly tell you it's not worth 85 dollars for a different manufacturer.

Not many people have been buying MSI cards anymore...something about them using cheap parts to manufacturer their cards. I wouldnt trust them anymore than PNY, i heard that their customer service is okay but hard to reach. We all know how often "video" problems occur so i would recommend you dishing out 30 more dollars for a more reputable brand. Theyre mobo's have been pretty good tho.
