How is fan power connector S_FAN1 used? It's much too small to use with the rear case fan that came with the In-Win case. I understand that the tiny fan power connector C_FAN1 is used for the CPU fan and have used it that way.

Aren't case fans run off the power supply? Thanks for any response provided.

According to the manual S_FAN1 can be used for any +12V system fan

Which type of fan is preferred by those who understand this stuff? Is it better to run a case fan off the power supply or an appropriate 12V fan off the motherboard.

Personally I would use the power supply. I will probably never use S-FAN1 on my Pro2-A

at most, I'd plug a CPU fan or a video card fan into a motherboard.

NO WAY would I use the mobo to plug in a case fan. no way.

The only valid reason I could think of would be to monitor the fan speed.....I would also be careful of plugging certain CPU fans into the header, as well....the fan on the FOP-38 has been known to burn out many a header......

The Pal with a delta will sure do it on a K7TPro-2A. Smoked my header in about 10 days

BallGame, the mobo is probably the most important piece of equipment for system stability. Using the mobo as a source for power can only drain power from other components, if it is a bigass fan like a case fan or a beast like the Delta 7k RPM

I don't plug any fans except the HSF into the Mobo.

Sorry if I seem to "not know" but "where" do you plug case fans into the PSU (Enermax Eg351VP)& how many can you use ?

In my own systems, I use the lower fan header for Video card fan.

To plug case fans into PSU, they must have the 4-pin leads and you can just plug them to any of the connectors running from the power supply....same connectors used to power your CD-ROM, hard drives, etc...
