Got a RPM-monitoring fan plugged into the CPU-fan header? Some boards require an RPM signal on that header to POST. Also, make sure the AGP card has made it through both rows of contacts in its slot and double-check that the RAM is all the way down in its slot, all the way across. If nothing works, pull it out of the case and try with one memory module and the video card. Hope something comes to light for you.

Ok, looking at the manual, page 3-27 has the info about the CPU fan. It can be set to keep the system from POSTing if there is no RPM reading on the CPU FAN header. It can be disabled in the BIOS, if you can get that far by fooling it with a fan that has RPM readout (assuming this might be the problem).

If that's not the problem, what is the D-LED display showing when it stops? If you don't have it hooked up, page 2-25 in your manual shows the hookup.

I have this problem also. The lD-LED lights were all red. I tried several different cpus and all of them didn't work. I was on ambmb.com that several people have this problem. It was fixed by getting a replacement motherboard, which I'm in the process of doing. Seems to be that a bunch of people are getting DOA motherboards from MSI.

Same here all reds saying faulty processer or seating . Won't boot as far as bios now so no other settings available. Looking faulty board?

Hmm... give this a try: push REALLY hard on the AGP card, if there's any doubt that it got past the second row of contacts. My K7S5A took a really surprising amount of force to overcome the second row of contacts when it was new.

Also, is your power supply a fairly good one? Any possibility you have your heatsink on 180 degrees backwards and the CPU overheated and fried as a result? Are you sure the CPU fan provides an RPM signal and is plugged into the header marked CPU FAN?

I had the same problem. It was a grounding issue. Make sure risers on your motherboard are connected to the 6 screw holes and ONLY them, no more, no less.

AFter a while when I see these comments and since IT NEVER happens to me I have to conclude these are MB faulty/sloppy installs or poor Power Supplies. Yesterday I swapped out my A7S333 and replaced it with a MSI KT3 Ultra - flawless and I bought the board from a shady dealer here in Canada.
Always make sure that the motherboard SITS flush on the standoffs and I'll say it again when in doubt use plastic standoffs or washers (those red ones). You only need a minimum of 3 metal standoffs to secure the MB (I used 5 on mine but thats me). Then check every stage of the install carefully before powering on - take your time there is no rush. The only peculiarity of this board is the front panel connections - they are different from most boards I have seen - be careful here.

this thread is old but I had the same prob when i setup my MSI KT3 Ultra with an XP1800+ also. Wasn't until I figured to set the bus to 133mhz in the bios that it has since worked flawlessly. Of course I had a hell of a time clearing the cmos and wonderin what the hell was wrong with it for about an hour first
