Ok, I am very happy with the board. But I am having this problem(really an inconvenience) with the board. I am using a PowerMan 300 ATX power supply. The problem is, when ever I shut down the computer using start|shut down, it works fine. But if I wait for more than 10 minutes and go to power it up using the power button, nothing happens. I have to unplug the computer and wait 30 seconds to a minute, then it turns on fine. It doesn't happen if I use the powerstrip switch to kill it.

Like I said, It's a bit of a pain. I usually forget to hit the power strip and have to wait for a minute before I can turn my computer on.

Any clues....I would be very much appreciative.

Thanks

Jimmy

Ding,

I find it hard to beleive that it is a software problem. It happens when the machine is off.

let me explain again: After I turn the machine completly off, if I wait for more than a minute and try to tun it back on again, it does nothing....as if it were not plugged into the wall. If I unplug the power cord for about 30 seconds to a minute, then plu it back in, the computer turns on fine. I'm pretty sure it is the motherboard, bios, or Power supply.

Any other ideas....

thx Jimmy

Ben,

What kind of Power supply do you have? I am trying to figure out if it is the PS, MOBO or the BIOS.

Jimmyz,

You might have a problem with the +5sby voltage from your PS. Most mobos have a requirement for the current available on the +5sby line. My 'guess' would be that yours in marginal. If you power up before 10 mins, the capacitors in the PS will give the extra kick. Afre 10 mins, the capacitors are discharging and the supply is overloading. Unplugging the supply, resets the internal protection of the supply so its good again.

DaddyG,

I will swaping the power supply, but I don't have too much on the 5volt rail. I just have 1ide drive, an ide CDrom and two fans.

I'll let you know. I was hoping it was a setting in Bios....kind of like when you first plug the computer into power (how it turns on for 4 seconds) Well, I was able to shut that feature off in bios...thought there might be a setting I am missing in Power management or something.
