Well, I got my board about a week ago and put it all in...to find linux booting fine and windows xp restarting the computer at startup...couldn't get support from either MSI or the Monarch (though they were helpful). Their answers: bad memory; my answer: bs. But either way, made a stop at compusa and bought 2 things: new memory and sata hard drive. I wanted neither, since I was buying this board to save money on upgrades (such as video card), at the same time being "caught up" and compatible with future upgrades.

So I tried the ram, same thing (thank goodness cause compusa ripped me off). Then tried the 120gig HD and it worked like a charm. installed windows xp, played some (free) half-life 2 that came with the combo from Monarch, and I'm happy. But I still gotta resolve two issues (ignoring the one about WHY I had to buy a new HD to work):

1. Linux doesn't seem to have support for sata on the board. Tried fedora 3 (64-bit) and it didn't see my sata hard drive. Any news?
2. USB 2.0 driver is just not working in windows for this board. I have sp2 and i installed one of the drivers from the CD, but that doesn't take care of anything. Whenever I try to plug my 2.0 mp3 player in, it says that I can plug into a faster plug to get better performance--I thought all the plugs are usb 2.0???

Any help or feedback would be really welcome...

But otherwise, I really like this board. It's a real value, especially when buying a combo through Monarch Computers with free games. Also, works fast, video's awesome...seems good overall other than for the problems mentioned...

Just got this MB, fired it up last night, and I'm searching the net for info about the same type of problem...

It doesn't see my ide HD. I've tried two WD 160GB drives and neither worked. I tried an older 20GB drive and it did work. Then I tried a different 20GB drive and it didn't work. Then I tried the two 20GB drives together and both worked. All during this, my two 60GB sata drives are detected just fine, but my DVD/CD on the second ide is not auto detected but it is detected if I have the bios explicitly test for it.

I'm new to homebuilding but not to systems; this all seems very odd. Yes, I'm careful about the master/slave jumper on the ide drives. I'll do more testing tonight.

How big is your powersupply? I have 380W.
