i'm thinking regressives, especially those that work in the business of making up and/or disseminating news might consider looking at statistics on occasion. on the other hand since the numbers don't support the leftist world view, i guess they lean towards the propaganda wing of news reporting...

aos said:
Not surprisingly, there is no statistically significant left-right political differences in the proportion of adopted or step-families that are in mixed race households. Indeed, among families with step-children or adopted children, 11 percent of conservatives were living in mixed race households compared to 10 percent of liberals living in mixed-race households.

Similarly, 9.4 percent of Republicans living in step- or adopted families were in mixed-race households, compared to only 8.8 percent of Democrats in such families. (Again, this small advantage for Republicans is not large enough to be statistically significant).

If one breaks things down further by both party and political orientation, only 7.7 percent of liberal Democrats and 3.6 percent of moderate Democrats lived in mixed-race adopted or step-households, compared to an insignificantly different 10.6 percent of conservative Republicans.

who'd-a-thunk :whiste:

perfect example, fuckin amazing

“Is everyone who lives in Ignorance like you?" asked Milo.

"Much worse," he said longingly. "But I don't live here. I'm from a place very far away called Context.”

― Norton Juster, The Phantom Tollbooth

Like I said, you are a hypocrite

Now don't go crying and getting butt hurt, I don't want you thinking people are picking on you, I wouldnt want you to take your ball and go home.

See ya hack!

Some MSNBC intern tweeted something mean! Oh the humanity!

No shit, it's hardly the end of the world, but the scenario people were saying was a ridiculous MSNBC fantasy was a reality. Rightwing people did get upset about a commercial airing with a mixed-race family. Not all right wing people. But right wing people. There's still racism in America. Accept that, condemn it when it pops up, and move on.

And for people asking for proof that people objecting to mixed-race families by talking about 'negroids' are conservatives, are you serious? Anti-miscegenation sentiment is by definition conservative (or even more accurately, regressive, but those are basically the same in today's Tea Party right wing). I'm sure you can find a few non-white people objecting to mixed race marriages, especially in foreign countries, but do you seriously think the people objecting to this poll are not predominately white? http://www.gallup.com/poll/163697/approve-marriage-blacks-whites.aspx "Ninety-six percent of blacks, 84% of whites approve" of mixed-race marriage. If you want, I'll find the additional polls that show that sentiment is concentrated in the South, where people are much, much more likely to be conservative, but I have a hard time believing that's really necessary.

This whole non-issue is like if Fox News tweeted "time for the left wing to call for gun control" in response to a gun ad going on during the Superbowl, then the DNC chairman demanding an apology for this super mean accusation because not every left wing person cares about gun control. Left wing people have called for gun control, in reality, and also the DNC doesn't speak for all 'left wing' people (nor do attacks on 'left wing' people equate to attacks on Democrats). Right wing people have bashed this commercial for showing a mixed race family, in reality, and also the RNC doesn't speak for 'right wing' people, nor are attacks on 'right wing' people attacks on Republicans.

Exactly..

I am not the one saying that stating facts about voting trends of different races is racist.

What is really ironic is there are probably countless posts here from liberals saying essentially the same thing as Bill O'Reilly about voting trends.

The real question is, do YOU know what it means?

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/racist?s=t

Bill O saying that hispanics and black people will vote for Obama because they feel entitled to things and Obama will give them stuff, but that white people don't feel that way or want free stuff is racist. Plain and fucking simple. As simple as Bill's small brain.

Fox has far better ratings than MSNBC, which is in the bottom of the toilet anyway. It doesn't surprise me one bit, actually, after seeing all the racist shit they have condoned. Fox also has beautiful, intelligent women, while MSNBC has that thing.......Maddcow, or whatever IT is. lol

Because well informed folks watch news from multiple sources. And thus the ratings spread across all the other news providers. Folks that watch Fox tend to only see and hear what they want to.

I dont care if the women are beautiful when I watch the news. Maddcow wow thats funny, and you have to make fun of her because she is a (really) smart gay women? Does she threaten you?

Also Intelligent people can be soooo stupid.

I disagree and agree about certain parts of your post.

People who stick to one news channel, no matter the channel, will always hear and see what they want. It doesn't pertain to Fox News or the folk who watch Fox News.

Why is the criticism of another always automatically assumed to be made because of race, sexual orientation or gender? Why can't someone just be criticised or even disliked because of their character?

Personally I find her a bit annoying but she's, from what I've seen, the best on the channel. I haven't really seen her saying in comparison to what others at the station are saying or doing. She's actually been cool under really terrible comments about her, like wishing she was never born. She didn't get back with (real hurtful) or anti-conservative jokes. It was actually really tamed.

And yea, you shouldn't watch news for the "beautiful" people. lol You should watch the news for accurate accounts of national or world-wide events. And hardly any news station, local or not, can successfully do that any more. Now it is all about agenda and attacking the other side because they are "lunatics". Look what having "parties" has done to this nation. :\

I actually like her. Sometimes she is a bit dramatic, but over all she has been pretty spot on with her journalism and news casting reports. She was the first one who broke the Chris Christie bridge scandal, and the first to break a lot of other news before anyone else. I just finished reading her book some time back "Drift" that was really good.

Wait didn't MSNBC have a host that went after Mitt Romney's family and their adopted black grandchild ?? Did they not learn anything from that experience???

It's always someone else fault.

To learn anything, they would first have to admit there is a lesson to be learned, from a mistake they made. If it's someone elses fault, both of those conditions are null, right?

Which is why it is always someone elses fault, and not indicative of anything cultural within the organization.

I agree. I of course don't agree with her political stance but I can't help but respect her some for how she holds up to unfair and hurtful criticism, especially since most of it is just because she's a Liberal. Of course I stopped watching the higher end new stations because of their personal agendas, so she could very well have had her moments, but applause for not going extreme like everyone else.

Drift? I expected something really different but the summary sounds good to me. I definitely already agree American warfare has become way too secretive and whatnot. I'll see if they have it at my local book store; always enjoy a good read about politics.

Over the top rant removed.

Oh it could cost you, changing direct quotes is against forum rules I am pretty sure. Normally I wouldn't care less but your post just screams what an asshole you are. Real classy of you to bring up someones family too.

Did we already forget the whole Fox News "Jesus and Santa are white" thing?

I don't get why this matters anyway. Both MSNBC and Fox News are trash. They both are cynical political operations masquerading as news sources. Anyone who watches either one of them in an attempt to become informed deserves what they get.

This.

No, I'm talking about none of the "Left" being fazed by comments like umbrella39 made. That's some twisted shit. If someone from my ideological "bloc" said that, I'd be kicking their virtual ass. There's no reason for that level of malicious douche-baggery.

Rachel Maddow is no more a journalist than Rush Limbaugh. They are political commentators. They pick exactly what topics they are going to cover and exactly and repeatedly put their opinions to it. They are far from journalists.
