Multiple sticks of RAM causing instability

I have a Soyo KT333 Dragon Ultra Platinum. Worked great with a single 512MB PC2700 in it, but not with two. To make a long story short, the RAM will pass the windows memory diagnostic just peachy with either chip in any of the 3 slots. However, any time both are in there I'm getting errors with bios tunings that do anything beyond the fail safe defaults. While the system works in this state, it does result in rather suboptimal performance characteristics.

Any ideas?

simplest thing i can think of is... to get different memory, or juts run it by itself :/

you already ruled out the instability by testing both and different slot combo's

Find out which stick of memory has the worse timings and try run both at that setting.

Unfortunately, both sticks are identical, so they have the same timings.
