No, you don't have the right to do whatever you want. If I can hear your car inside my house with the doors and windows closed then your car is too fvcking loud and you should be pulled over, hassled by the cops and fined heavily. Better yet, I'm all for the authorities taking your car and crushing it into a little block you can stack in your garage.

It's my house and I have a right to enjoy it in peace and quiet.

you are a dick head, if my car is perfectly legal at 110db then i have the right to drive where ever I want, If i lived in the US I i would drive right up to your driveway an plant the biggest set of black tyre marks you have ever seen on it, the fact is here in Australia we are allowed to have an exhaust system that produces driveby noise of 110db, my car which has been throughly tested is just with in this, the police have tried on many occasions to defect my car and have ended up paying a lot of money for my time off work because they have lost in court, I know what is legal and what is not..only a dickhead would drive a car that is not legal for the road, therefor if the law says i can have 110db..by god i will have 110db, and no do gooder is going to change that..that is my RIGHT. and as or the authorities crushing my car...pffft I'd like to see it happen in Australia.

By your logic, ricers represent asian cars. Thanks, you just proved your idiocy.
A muscle car or an asian car can be loud, it depends on the muffler(s). Here is where I should call you a dumbass, but I'll refrain.
Uh not completely. Muscle car engines rumble very loud. It's very loud even at idle. Muscle cars are all by default loud. Asian cars are all by default very silent.
Sorry but you're still the only dumbass here.
Try again.

No, by my logic only asian cars (and off-shoots) can become ricers. Not Asian = Rice.

Any engine, run without mufflers is loud, even at idle. So its just a matter of what mufflers are on a car. There is a big difference between Flowmaster 3-chamber mufflers and a set of Dynomax Ultraflos.

By far, you are the world's ultimate dumbass.

OK so only asian cars can become ricers.. and you are using that to prove that asian cars suck because of it. I don't see how ricers have anything to do with how good/bad asian cars are....
And the muffler won't do much to silence a muscle car's rumbling engine, because the source of the noise is mostly from the engine, and not the exhuast.
Name me one asian car that comes stock with a noisy muffler...
That's right, there aren't any...
Try again when you get a sense of logic.

well yes only asian cars can become ricers..how would a US car or Aussie car become a ricer?, you are just grasping at straws in your pathetic arguments.
and as for the muffler issue it is obvious that you have never driven any stock V8 before, most especially Australian V8's are almost silent ,they have to comply with design rules which state a maximum driveby noise, this is much lower than is allowed once the car leaves the factory.
you seem to have no idea what you are talkin about, most engines sound similar under the bonnet..AS IT IS THE MUFFLER THAT DICTATES WHAT AN ENGINE WILL SOUND LIKE.
go to any muffler shop and ask the mechanics there. if you have ever purchased a muffler system for a car they will ask you WHAT YOU WANT YOUR CAR TO SOUND LIKE.

Nice, that's pretty cool.
i have no idea how loud my car is (db)... i have a dynomax super turbo muffler.. it sounds nice and deep, it's not loud and raspy, but you can hear the muffler indeed when the windows are down.. it gurgles nicely at idle too... this is on my 2001 Neon R/T.

Did that guy ever consider hardening up his suspension? His car is like bouncing from the weight shift of acceleration and decceleration.

You want the suspension to react like that for drag racing.

You cushion the sudden acceleration and keep the tires from breaking loose as much and you also transfer weight to the rear to keep it planted.

well, if i felt like recording the sound it makes, it definitely has a nice sound at idle, but i'm not gonna bother doing so... so you'll have to try to believe me.

I personally find it very hard to believe a 4 banger makes any type of rumbling noise. But hey, I believe you

yeah turbo mufflers are pretty quiet, they sound nice but not much noise, I have a Lukey Highflo installed on my car comming out of a set of Pacemaker extractors into a 2.5inch single system, it reasonable at idle and up to 2500rpm..just to keep it legal which is 110db here in australia, after 2500rpm when the engine is coming on song, it gives out a real deep burble that echo's everywhere, it has often been confused with V8's, at around 4500-5000 its loud enought to rattle glass windows, and according to the law perfectly legal..I'm not sure how i will fare once the V8 is in, but i was thinking of changing to a twin system anyway so it won't be much of an issue as the muffler shop guy will figure it out for me

(enough with the quoting)

well lets just put it this way.. the R/T motor has a bigger intake/exhaust ports, a bigger lift/duration on the cam, so it's gonna produce a different sound over the regular SOHC motor, and then, it runs down and out through basically a stock short tube header, into 2.25" mandrel bent piping (header back) which is stock, to the dynomax axle-back which you can competely see through as if you were looking through a telescope from one end to the other, so if that gives you a good idea of the free flowing nature of the exhaust on this car, maybe you can kinda understand at least how a 4 banger just MIGHT have a deep sound to it!

Of course a 4 banger can burble, one of my friends had a 1976 toyota corona with a worked 1.6litre in it and he had a 3inch turbo muffler fitted and it has the deepest sound i have ever heard, even when compared to a few other friends 5 litre Commodores, it used to pop and crackle when backing off the throttle, and as soon as you stood on it it would let out a DEEEEEP roar...very scary stuff

my car pops a little bit when under decelleration (in gear)

it's a pretty cool sound for a 4 cylinder... i enjoy it in the summer with the windows down

anyway, great car. 455CID, 3spd auto though, still, fun to drive. Wish I could get it out of storage and fix it up, no $$$ or time.

Americans are lucky, none of the Australian made cars ever featured a bigblock V8, the largest V8 was the 360's found in V8 chrysler chargers during the 70's, most of our muscle cars are based around ford 5.8litres or GMH 5litres, Although the 2005 HSV based monaro's will score a 6litre later this year

heh.. not all cars needed a big block
one of my favorite cars is a 340 challenger.... or anything with a 340 for that matter
that is a great motor, and not that large!
although big blocks are undoubtedly the best of the best, some small blocks kicked ass. the 340 was far better than the 360 for example.. the 360 is a little torquey, but unless it has work done to it, nothing special (as far as performance is concerned) the 360 was rated in the low 200's for HP (IIRC) and the 340 was like 310 or something.

Agreed the 340 is an AWESOME engine, they are pretty rare here, most people when they ordered aussie chargers prefered the 360..i think it has something to do with ford having a powerful 5.8litre and GMH using a chev 5.7litre..the "little" 5.6litre may not have sounded as good as a 5.9litre.
our 360's where rated at around 280hp so it was competitive with the 300hp 351's and 300hp 350 V8's
the 340 was detuned here to fit into our twisted idea of engine performance being based on max cubes.
but chrysler most powerful engines in Australia was the 4.3 Hemi inline six, the RT spec engines which had tripple webers and alot of head work, where rated at 300hp and could compete quite well with the Ford Falcon GTHO's 350+hp V8's

look jules we all love the Sti, but it just ain't a muscle car and it never will be.

cars are like music. as hard as you try to imitate, you just can't write any songs that can be included into the category of "80's rock" or whatever.

the period has long passed, and i'd consider the Sti to be a SPORTS car. the definition of a "muscle car" just doesn't apply to any modern cars...

yeah the STI is pretty cool, but the WRX in Australia is considered a chicks car, if you are going to drive a japanese car and be considered credible then you need to be driving one of the following

Nissan Skyline GTR (the R32 is prefered due to its mythical racing status here)
Nissan 350Z
Mazda RX7 (any series will do but series 6 is considered the most popular)
Honda NSX (Just plain sexy)
Nissan Silvia/200sx (borderline chick car)
Toyota Supra
Mitsubishi Lancer EVO or GSR

anything else is just consider to be a girls car, although I do like Honda Intregra's and RSX's they are cool...but they are a girls car
