music plays to fast

using win2k, whenever i play music it sounds like someone took a big hit of helium.it does it
with both winamp and mediaplayer.anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

is it actually playing too fast or is it just the pitch that's messed up? check the actual lengths of songs to how long it takes to play them...

maybe you clock is screwed up... check your soundcard, is it on 48.000khz or 44.100khz... if you recorded from a md by optical cable and the md is running 32.000khz and you machine recorded at 44.100khz then it will playback the sound 12.100khz to high... get soundforge, change the clock rate untill it sounds right, narrow down your search for the problem...

Slow down your Hard Drive! ;-)

Do you have a Sound Blaster Live! with Liveware installed??? There are some funky settings that maybe able to have that effect.
