MW2 map pack priced: $15!!!

The thing that pisses me off is MW2 is just a glorified or expansion of MW1. There's not any big change in the graphics or sound or features. Its pretty much the same game with different weapons, and different maps. I got the game for Christmas and was going to return it but kept it, played it for a while until the BC2 BETA came out and I haven't touched it since then. The other thing is the game was $60 bucks which is already $10 more than most PC games and now they're trying to rape another $15 out of people for a crappy map pack. No thanks IW.

I played BF2 and BC2. Gameplay is exactly the same, even with the same shitty weapon accuracy. sure, they made a few little changes, but so did MW2.

Yeah, I was kinda just being an ass, but as someone who's played all 4 of those games it's just ridiculous to say BC2 is BF2 "re-done".

Anyway I won't be buying this, like other people I've moved onto BC2, which I hope continues to have free map packs on the PC. T

Tbh I was very disappointed that BC2 will not have map-making tools at least, they say it's too complicated but that's just BS. No matter how complicated the map making would be there are people out there who would put in the time to make some great maps.

I bought Modern Warfare 2 and enjoy it, but haven't played it since Bad Company 2's beta (now full version). Meh, this don't surprise me and I'm sure not gonna waste money on some shitty map pack.

That has to be one of the most amusing comments I've heard. You obviously haven't either played BC2 or your just a huge MW2 fanboy. Does BF2 have the frostbite engine? No. Does BF2 have the graphic options like HBAO and does it support DX10 or DX11? No. Bad Company 2 is completely redone from BF2. If you look at MW2 the requirement specs are almost the same as COD4 and are the exact same as World at War. They couldn't even implement DX11 into the game. MW2 is just a $60 expansion pack for COD4, plain and simple.

Meh, MW2 has the same exact game-play as MW1 as well, but BC2 uses a completely new game engine, so that alone makes it way more of an upgrade than MW2 is over MW1.

LOL! I can't imagine many PC gamers will be paying for MW2 maps when you can download hundreds of CoD4:MW maps for free.

This is just another aspect of Consolization--the inability of enthusiasts to create custom maps and other custom content. This is what you get for purchasing a consolized game.

What's sad is that MW2 probably sold well on the PC which means other companies will also consider consolization. Dragon Age is another example--no online multiplayer (ala one of its predecessors, Neverwinter Nights), no custom content.

If you want a good FPS that allows for custom content people might have to rediscover the original Unreal Tournament (UT99) and UT 2004.

Is this really surprising? This is essentially what folks said would happen when they removed dedicated servers. Even sadder is that 40% of the included maps could have probably been done by an intern in about an hour since they are ports and the engine is apparently nearly identical.

This was on my wait and see list due to the dedicated servers and $60 price tag but a $15 map pack has pretty much cinched it.

I rather have a work in progress server browser than botched matching making system that chooses players to host games which causes too much lag. Dedicated servers FTW!

Did you buy the game? I know I didn't, and I know a number of people on this forum that also didn't. It's not PC vs console, it's "us" (the people who get it and don't throw their money away) vs people that are perfectly fine paying $50~ a year for multiplayer, along with $60 games and $15 map packs (or in the case of the kiddies, getting adults to pay for them).

I, for one, am glad that people who bought this console title for the PC are now being treated appropriately by IW.

Maybe the next PC developer/publisher to go this route won't be met with such an eager spray of customer dollars.

And you know what? "Death of PC gaming" is preferable to what we have now. A console is cheap, so if you want console games get one. Or three. There will always be someone interested in developing PC games so long as the PC exists. I'd rather PC games be unique through gameplay and depth rather than the flood of half-assed console ports we're getting now.
