If the map packs keep coming, they pretty much will be a required purchase to play online.

I bought COD :WaW on the 360 a few months ago, and getting online in a game was nearly impossible without having the map packs. And there was no way in hell I'd pay $30 at the time to get those three map packs when I only paid $20 for the game.

It's free on PC.

This is ANOTHER example of Console way trickling down to PCs.....

STAY AWAY FROM CONSOLES PEOPLE!!!

Yup... I loved CODWaW on the PC. At least I didn't have to buy map packs there. When I got it for the console (to play with friends), I never even thought about all those map packs.

Personally I thought CODWAW was a let down.

Nothing compares to COD: United Offensive as far as TOTAL WW2 experience goes.

Not that WAW wasn't a good game. Just needs bigger maps, better lay outs more tanks/88s/jeeps etc.

Also, Germans shouldn't be able to pick Russian weapons...needs to be more authentic.

I always said that if IW/Activision was just to copy UO and update graphics/maps....would be the best WW2 shooter EVER. But apparently they cannot do what was done MANY years ago.....weird.

No user created content of any kind is possible. Only whatever IW/Activision can sell as DLC.

It's sad, but unsurprising, how many PC players fell for this steaming pile.

Sadly, their actions are going to help destroy PC gaming for the rest of us.

Yep Infinity Ward = suck-age. They totally Arse'd the PC community then sit back and fornicate to the $$$ that keep coming in. Now lads, a further re-hash of old maps and 3 'yet to be determined quality' maps. **cough, cough** - that will be $15 please. Well just you console chaps for now and depending on success.....PC anyone?

The Servers S**k, in an hr, I spend 15 mins in-game, 45 mins in the Lobby or being booted from the lobby; most games are riddled with hackers ( mind you, this was I/W Plan to stop ) it's one huge joke. And now this? I have NEVER been so disappointed in a release.

why don't you cry about it some more?

Despite it being held back compared to other PC games, it's still an entertaining game. Calling it a 'steaming pile' is fucking laughable. If you don't like it, move on... and quit crying.

Actually if you read why they used 'steaming pile' as opposed to just isolating those two words, it would make more sense to their statement...and perhaps even validate yours

Fuck no! Someone has to fight the good fight and try to increase gamers' awareness of creeping consolization and to advocate support for real PC games and opposition to consolized and compromised crap.

For all of you blaming Infinity Ward for a lack of dedicated servers, a rip off "map pack," I have 3 words for you.

Fuck Bobby Kotick.

Considering the parting of the high end IW members, I'd say Activision would be behind this crap more so than IW.

While most of the blame can probably be put on Activision, the heads at IW agreed to Activision purchasing them and accepted their money. It's not like Activision's reputation for pulling this stuff suddenly popped up over night. IW made their bed with Activision and now they face the consequences of that choice.

IW became a part of Activision in 2003. Activision has only been posterboy of videogaming evil for a short time.

Funny though, EA looks like they are saints compared to activision.

Everyone should really stop doing shit like this. Segments the online community when half the party drops for not having that map. Never bought a map pack in my life and I wont start now. Mostly because I don't own CoDMW2.. teehee!

If EA hadent destroyed as many PC centric franchises as it has then pc gaming in general would be in a better state today with or without activision. They can focus on consoles all they want as long as they dont interfere with blizzard.

All IW needs is one major competitor with a better product to put them in the red next year so they better get their act straight. It's not like they are standing on a huge sustainable competitive advantage.

If you look at Activations financial statements they made over 2.7 billion in 2009 but also accrued 2.3 billion in expenses. People don't realize the sheer costs of these games. Activision was actually suffering in 2008 and 2007. It does not take a lot to go from Hero to Zero in this business.

MW2 is one of the best shooters ever, but the cost of this map pack is a fucking disgrace. It splits the gamers into have's and have not's and the matchmaking playlists suffer. Although at $15, there will be WAY more have not's I'm thinking...

I'm hooked on BC2 for the next while so no worries, maybe IW will see the light and make them $5 by the time I'm ready to go back to MW2.

Bad Company 2 is my answer to this question.

I wish it was my answer too but it's not. It does help get together with clan mates however but as far as a frag fest arena go, it's not. Health bars, squad spawns, and no hit detection when firing from the hip...some of the things that will take me months to get use to.
