MX700 or MX500?

I presently have an Intellimouse Explorer...good fit for my somewhat large hands.
Would one of these be an improvement?
If so, which is the better of the 2 for all-around computer use?
Thanks in advance.

I have used both, I gave my mom the wireless one and I use the MX-500. The wireless one is great, best wireless mouse I've ever used, and being able to recharge the batteries in the cradle is fantastic. However, if you do any gaming, you'll notice a difference between wired and wireless, and since there's a 20-30 price difference between the two, unless you have a need for wireless, go MX500.

I've never heard of any noticable difference between the two for gaming. They're the same thing, just one is wireless.

The only difference I understand between both of them is the Cord.

I'd say go with the MX500 because its cheaper.

MX-500
nothing is more reliable than a hard coded path for the signal to travel
i've had wireless in the past, and i hate anything wireless. MX-500 is a fantastic mouse.

i have the mx500.. the mx500/mx700 series is probably the best in the market in terms of optical technology... very good ergonomics, tons of extra buttons, etc...

if you don't want to spend the extra money and don't care that there is a cord, then go for the mx500... but if you prefer to get a cordless one, then spend the extra cash and get the mx700

wait for a deal. I got the MX-700 for 40 with some pricematching and rebates, and the MX-500 pops up for 35 or less every so often.

well i'm sure your basing your opinion on past wireless mice which had a sorry refresh fo 50hz. mx700 refresh is no different from the corded.

but it's on batteries, and it's cordless.. the principal is not as good as the cord.. it's just.. idiot proof. MX-500 all the way
plus i bet the MX-700 is heavier cause of the batteries too.

From my personal experiences I prefer the MX-500. It's by far the best optical mouse I've ever used, it's extremely accurate and I definitely felt a large improvement over my previous mouse (Logitech Wheelman). Plus who wants to worry about having to charge their mouse anyways?

If you are putting down the MX700 then you obviously have not experienced its glory .

I cannot tell the slightest difference between it and a corded mouse (with the exeption of no cord drag). It does not skip or lag in the slightest bit. It is heavier but you get you used to it, it doesnt bother me at all. And the batteries are rechargeable, you have to put the mouse in the base station in order to charge it. I'm pretty sure the mouse can go at least 20 straight on a full charge.

Also, I find the MX500 to be kinda small for my hands

I have an MX700 (got it for ~$40 after some pricematch/rebate action). It's a great mouse. I used it to replace my Boomslang2000, and I haven't missed it at all! I haven't noticed any lagginess in games, though I suppose that might depend on how much interference you have around you.

it's called personal preference.. i really prefer light mice... that's one reason I prefer MS mice (only reason, actually)
cordless mice are heavy.. i don't like that. i don't need to workout, thanks...

For those who feel the 'drag' with cords, you need a mouse clip! I'm wary about wireless myself, but one of these days I'll give one a whirl. No need w/ my intellimouse explorer 3.0 though...

I like my MX700. But I'm going to have to ditch the plain jane 1700mAh batteries for some quality 1800's.
OR remember to slap the thing in the charger more often.

i'd get the MX700
i currently have the Logitech Wheel Mouse
for me, the cord always gets stuck during important times(like when you want to target the enemy's head with the No.4 sniper in bf1942)
maybe it's time for me to get one(or untangle the cords)

Or even a better 2000/2100mAh .

The MX700 should have no lag since it runs at 125Hz speed which`s the same as a USB corded mouse. For gaming it`s the best cordless mouse available at the moment .

The only cons I can see have been covered, heavier(no big deal) and the batteries will go flat sooner or later without a recharge.I`ve known some cordless mice to go dead or real low at the wrong time in gaming for a few friends.

MX500 has only one real negative,it`s corded but an Everglide Mouse Bungee will help a lot,I use one and it`s pretty good,I would say sort of between having a corded and cordless mouse feel in use.
