My Big Fat Greek Wedding Conspiracy!

Call me crazy. Its amazing that I have nothing better to do at the moment, but check this out.

My wife dragged me to see My Big Fat Greek Wedding this weekend. It was an amusing movie.

Regardless, When the movie started I leaned over to my wife and said "The main character is that girl from Hang Time" and she agreed with me. Hang Time, for those not in the know, Is a Saturday morning show on NBC that is simialr to Saved by the Bell.

After looking online today, I found out that the two actresses are not the same, but they almost look like identical twins! The resemblence is uncanny. Judge for yourself, I posted the two pictures on my website.

Their names:
Nia Vardalos - MBFGW
Megan Parlen - Hang Time

Maybe the Hang Time girl changed her name and is trying to distance herself from TV. Maybe they are long lost sisters. Tell me what you think.

Did anyone else ntoice that hte lady that gets married in that movie has two faces?

I couldn't get over it. Depending on the lighting (and makeup I think)m sometimes she looked great...at other times she was not so hot.

Am I alone on this one?

By the way. THe movie TRUELEY is funny. It's THE perfect date movie!

Hey actually Vardalos is from my city, Winnipeg, and she was definitely not on Saved by the Bell. Also, we Canucks are not into that whole "conspiracy" thing like you crazy paranoid Americans....who shot JFK??? the moon landing never happened...Elvis lives...

Nia Vardalos is an unknown actor who was found for this movie. I saw an interview with her...she has had no major roles at all and this was her first!

Actually you know what makes this movie truely priceless? The entire thing is basically true. Except for the windex thing (not sure where they came up with that) this movie is dead on. It was like watching my family only on the big screen.

The movie, although highly accurate and slightly amusing, will go down forever into the halls of the "estrogen-fest" It's the kind of movie that unmarried 30+ year old women will rent late at night and watch at each others houses while eating some variety of chocolate.

I heard that the movie was Vardalos' story, the she'd been performing as standup comedy. She'd been approached to have it made as a movie before, but refused, since they always wanted to make it a Latino or Italian family. She wanted it Greek, she wanted to play the main role in her own story, and wanted some creative control. Tom Hanks offerred all that to her, and hence the result. I loved it, thought it was great.
As for her looking differently, so? Lighting does that, and no woman looks hot all the time.

Now that you mention it, my wife was eating M&M's while we watched it in the theatre... hmmm...

I saw the Movie on a plane flight from Boston. It was pretty good and reminded me of My ex's Family who were Italians. Say what you want about a big family, they are a lot of fun.

yea Tom Hanks and his wife saw her performing. I thought it was a 1 woman play, which is essentially like standup. She wrote the story the movie was based on, and when he became associated with it, she was able to star in it etc....

Not sure why I watched as much of the interview as I did, but that's what I caught of it.
