When my phone is next to my computer, and someone calls me, my psu makes funky noises, kind of like little sparks, and my computer restarts.

My comp had been randomly restarting a lot lately, and i was wondering wtf, but when my friend called me this afternoon, and right as he called, my comp restarted i knew something was up. Tested it again, and voila, it crashed.

Not even sure if I can fix it, I just find it damn funny.
It might be b/c my case is out of wood, so I'm gonna either wrap my psu in foil, or take my phone to friends comps and crash em

heh... that's priceless. i'd keep it away from your comp for a day or two just to make sure it's really the phone and not one of lifes cruel jokes though.

Really weird:

My cell phone knocks out my wireless card, and my wireless mouse...(obvious) But a PSU...that?s almost unfeasible.

Let?s say that the PSU has a Relay or an Opt isolator and the magnetic field of the phone can disengage.

That?s the only thing that comes to my mind...but it is really stupid...I don?t even know how a PSU is internally.

I know it's weird as hell, but I've tested it a bunch of times, and each time it restarts it. Before my cell phone would interefere a bit with my speakers, like make them hum a bit when i recieved a call, but i guess
1)metal cases shield better (i built myself a wooden case this summer) and
2) my cell phone has only recently been getting put right next to my computer (i just moved into my apt so it's a who new setup)

Electromagnetic interference. If I put a walkie-talkie up to my CRT, it would make the CRT image look like a splash of water.

850/900/1800/1900 (quad band) doesn't match 2.4 ghz nor does it match 5.8 ghz. I dont understand how it kills wireless.

Cordless phones (2.4 ghz) can kill wireless.

good point el torrent.. but its actually the frenquency last time I heard and FCC (or some other acroynm) approved wireless programs must be aprovd to be distributed publically for local safety reason such as airplane, subways, etc..

nonetheless, im curious to know what phone is it.

why'd you make a case out of wood? just wondering, does it have hard drive/optical drive bays too? cause that's a whole lot of work

I have a nokia 3120, the rest of my family has nokia 3100 (same phone, different case), and all of the phones cause interference with speakers when the receive calls, i'll find out when I go home whether or not they can all restart my comp.

as for my case, i had bought a random cheap ass case with horrible airflow, and didnt wanna shell out 100+ for a nice case, so I decided to have fun this summer, and built myself a case. It has 2 optical bays and 1 floppy bay

its the microwaves that transmit from the satellite to the cell, you'll usually notice an incoming call if you see your monitor fizzle right before it rings.

It's probably a combination of cell phone/psu, b/c sometimes when I use the scroll button on my mouse, the psu makes a slight hissing sound.

Didn't notice anything with my old psu (fortron blue storm 500), but I rma'd it and got another blue storm and noticed it making wierd sounds occasionally.

Not sure if I rma it again they'll believe me
them: "whats wrong with it?"
me: "uhhh...my cell phone restarts it...?"

edit:

oh, just realized u might have meant pics of my comp.

it's been slightly updated since then, with screen door mesh over the fans, and the hinges/door properly mounted w/a padlock on the front

here's the only recent pic i have, with my longboard next to it:
