Resolution: 1600 X 1200
Anti-Aliasing: 4X
Quality: Ultra

Min FPS: 32
Max FPS: 61
AVG FPS: 56.8

After reading the Hardocp review I thought i wouldnt be able to turn on AA or put it to ultra, but low and behold just like I thought my kickass system handles doom in all its glory. I was worried I should have got the Geforce 6800 Ultra when i saw the hardware review but now I am even more impressed with this kickass card I bought.

Most likely he is lying his ass off (search the post history - fandboyish comments galore). Either that, or he is using nonstandard timedemo, incomparable with other results.

Ha! Like anyone would need more performance than 56.8FPS at 1600x1200 w/ 4XAA and Ultra quality!

On top of that his 4XAA will look like 8XAA because of the TAA feature. I would be more than willing to accept that kind of performance.

I have a feeling his FX-53 is really helping his scores though.

EDIT: Did he cheat though?

Except the 6800 owners report 33-40fps at these particular settings.

Dude you can't be like [[/b]H[/b]]ardOCP (notice how I can do the "[[/b]H[/b]]"); you have to post "apples-to-apples" benchmarks that we can compare with everyone else's.

Since there is only one timedemo included in the game, I assume you just stared at the wall for a while, noted the fps, posted it here and than called it a "benchmarks"?

Yeah it takes all of 2 minutes to run, you wouldn't want to post anything we could actually compare to other sites?

In any case, you could for sure do better with a 6800GT, and maybe as well with a 6800NU in the same system.

Unless you think the 16X12 4X 8X results over there that have a 6800NU within 1.8 fps of the X800XT PE on a system very similar to yours are a lie?

I'd be mad if a card I paid $500+ for performed the same as a $300 card?

In today's climate of vastly different focuses between the two major graphics vendors? Doubtful. It's not as if for each situation like this there's not an equal number of the reverse.

You are wrong there Chsh1ca. The there's an overwhelming preponderance of the reverse, and I wouldn't be mad if I had a X800XT PE.

I was just baiting the OP because of his haughty attitude. (in the other post where he said "Who needs nVidia? My card owns")

(I'd still rather have an Ultra than a X800XT PE though- perhaps the GT I have arriving tomorrow can fill the gap)

Since you live in Madison, you need to go to Woodmans West and get some Fullers Vintage 2000 ale to enjoy with your prerelease Doom3. Old Nick barley wine style ale if that's not on the shelf anymore. (the Fullers comes in it's own box so it's pretty easy to spot among the rest)

The Mad Badger barley wine at JT Whitneys on Whitney Way is super good too, buy it to go for a fair price.

Here's some bench results I did with fraps while playing the first half hour of the game on my rig with a "9700" pro. Rig is listed below.

1024x768 High detail (includes 8xAF)
Min: 22fps
Average: 35fps
Max: 45fps

1024x768 Medium detail (0xAA/0xAF)
Min: 25fps
Average: 48fps
Max: 60fps

I honestly didn't feel too lagged playing on high detail mode, especially after I got further indoors. 30fps in Doom 3 feels like 45fps in any other game to me. It's weird, but the game just feels smoother than the framerates I get suggest. This is probably due to the fact that there isn't really huge ranges of framerate in the game. You never go from, say, 20fp to 60fps. It's usually a steady drop or increase, and small at that. I couldn't notice much visual difference between high and medium detail, so I thought I'd just cover my back with some extra framerate, and stuck it out with medium detail. Looks like some people won't need a 256mb card to play the game on high detail smoothly, just like I figured. Hope the benches help some decide. I know they aren't from any time demo or anything, but I'd think some would prefer actual in game framerates being recorded as opposed to a timedemo where nothing interacts with the user.

I figure that anyone who can score 6000 or higher on 3dmark, as long as their system is decent, corresponding with that score, can run the game pretty acceptably at 1024x768 high detail. Of course, if you're running new gen high end cards, you won't need to bother with this "low" setting
I tested the game on my brother's computer just for giggles. He has an AXP 2000+ with 512mb of PC2700 memory and an FX 5200. His game only runs smoothly at 640x480 low detail. FX 5200 = teh suck.

I believe once you put the game on high or better settings, the game runs with an included 8xAF, or something.
