Thinking about throwing this on a spare HDD, and running on a Abit P35e if possible. Any chance of that working?

I just installed Kalyway on my Acer Aspire 5570Z. Video and sound works fine. The system is very fast, BUT both my NIC and Wi-Fi adapter are not compatible so no internet

What make/model NIC and Wifi do you have? A quick search landed me on this Wifi adapter fix for your Aspire:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=33089

I followed the first post step-by-step. Everything goes as planned, but when I go to System Preferences>Network, the card still isn't found.

The card on my notebook is the AR5007EG/AR5BXB63. It looks like many people have that same one and haven't had luck with it either: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=62680

I think I'll go with a USB Wi-Fi adapter for now.

Does anyone have an idea as to why the Kalyway release doesn't work on my PC? I have a P4 SSE2 Processor with an Asus P4P800 Deluxe, and I had a previous version of OSX working (I think it was 10.4.8). What happens to me is that it shows the "Loading Darwin OSX86" screen and it gets to a certain point and my computer reboots. I can repeat this over and over to no avail. Some people over at InsanelyMac said it's a problem with the EFI boot with SSE2 processors. Anyone have any ideas?

Yeah they are moving to SSE3 support thanks to Leopard. I don't think SSE2 supports some things they want to use, or something.

In other news -

Geforce 8800GT/GTS (92) and 8600 cards now work (also 8400M-GS mobile cards in laptops)

ATI Radeon HD 3870/3850 cards now work

Some 8800s can be flashed, such as the GTS -> Quadro 4500 (depending on the model, this is difficult) and the GTX -> Quadro 5600

It took me a while to get my current install working...I'm thinking about trying Kalyway on a new partition just to see what it's like.

Hmm, I wonder if my Quadro NVS 140M in this T61 will be supported since it is basically a 8400 GS/GT. Probably not

This guy referred to his thread and said it works on a lot of different Quadros, no reason why not to give it a shot! Let us know how it goes:

Mine is rock solid. Everything is perfect! I'm currently experimenting with EFI 8.0, which supports resizable partitions via GPT/GUID, but I can't get the system to boot unless I leave the install DVD in the drive. Apparently it's a small bug with the Bad Axe 2 system. But EFI 5.2 and EFI 8.0 both work great with MBR and I don't really have any reason to resizable boot partitions other than, well, just to do it, so I'm pretty happy. I think EFI 8.0 with GPT/GUID runs pretty well on most other compatible motherboards though.

I'm working on a Mac Mini-replacement system for nearly 1/2 the cost right now. I'll post an update in the next couple of days when I'm finished with it. Same specs as Mini, but hundreds less

I got my hackintosh up and working as well after three days of trial and error and just as much time in reading the howto guides on insanelymac.

It comes down to this:

For owners of the D975XBX2 a.k.a. "Bad Axe 2" here is the run down on how to do this:

1. Find your patched disc. Not going to tell you where you can find it, but it's out there. There are several versions out there and some held in high regard over at the insanelymac forums. While you're there, read up on EFI emulation as well.
2. Once you have your said disc, burn it to DVD. If you have a mac lying around running OS X, use Disk Utility. If you have a PC, use imgburn, it's free. Also get the EFI files floating around to a USB thumb drive. We shall call the thumb drive "Steve" (without the quotes).
3. Get all your settings in the BIOS correct. If you have a SATA HD, make sure it's either in IDE mode or AHCI. RAID will break things. Other things such as NX bit and Virtualization is fine and you can leave it enabled.
4. Boot from said DVD. This should take about 20 minutes as Kaido said.
5. Once you have it booted into the installer, go ahead and open up disk utility. Partition your drive(s). If you want "true" EFI support, format the drive in HFS+ with GUID support instead of MBR. Make sure you label the drive. For this guide, I'll call it "Bob" (without the quotes), but you can name it whatever you want.
6. Once finished with that, go ahead and close disk utility and open up terminal. Once it displays a bash prompt, type the follow:
diskutil list
7. Then after you make sure what partition your install is going to be in, type:
umount /Volume/Bob

cd /Volume/Steve/*EFI files*/

./startupfiletool /dev/rdiskXsY ./boot_v8 *Where X is the physical drive and Y is the partition.*

dd if=./guid/boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsY bs=512 count=1

dd if=./guid/boot0 of=/dev/diskX bs=400 count=1
8. Now you have to do the same thing again as step 7 except using the v7_guid_only switch. For example:
./startupfiletool /dev/rdiskXsY ./boot_v7_guid_only
.
9. Now you have to repeat step 7 again using the v8 switch.
10. After all that, you'll need to set you partition active. To do that, type:
fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX

update

f Y

w

q

reboot
11. Once the system reboots, boot from the DVD again and now you can install. With my install, I choose the vanilla kernel and the ACPI fix for it. Also chose the efi_guid bootloader as well.
12. After it's all said and done, after the final reboot you should have a working system. If not, then well I have no idea what broke, but using the steps above works fine for me (after three days of tinkering). T_T

Hope this helps.

Did you use BJMoose's guide?

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=74705

Also do you have the "KR" edition of the Bad Axe 2?

Yes, I did use BJMoose's guide and how do I find out if my board is the KR release?

Look at your order history, then at the model number. If "KR" is affixed to the end of the model number, then it's KR (D975XBX2 or D975XBX2KR). KR's only enhancement is CrossFire, but OS X doesn't support that feature anyway.

Wasn't running the script in terminal correctly, now all is well on an Asus P5K-E/E6600 @ 3.46ghz combo - just posted this from it. If I had patched correctly the first time around the whole thing would have taken less than an hour to get fully functional. (doesn't include the hours of reading through posts before pulling the trigger tho).

Mornin' all!

Leopard 10.5.1 running happily on my system, dual-booting alongside my XP Pro HDD.

First, system specs for my 'puter. (The Ubercheepniz Analytical Engine Mk.VII)

CPU E2160 BSEL modded and OC'ed to 2.7Ghz (300FSB. Will go a fair bit higher, but not happy with the temps using my standard Intel cooler)

Asrock ConRoe 1333-667 motherboard (Intel 945G chipset)
1Gb RAM (2x512 DDRII/667 V-Data/cheapos)
250GB IDE, 120 IDE, 60IDE, IDE CD/DVD RW (2 IDE devices upon SiL 0680 PCI/IDE card)
256Mb Nvidia 8600GT

Leopard installed upon the 60GB IDE drive.

OK. First, Leopard installer was not happy at all with my SiL card, so just to get things working, I shifted my IDE devices around so the 60Gb install drive was on-board primary master, and my CD/DVD was slave.

Start install, format partition as HFS+ Journed, using MBR scheme and selected options for MBR_EFI v8, ACPI and Vanilla kernel. Deselect any Nvinject and audio extensions (come to this later..) and off I went. 20 mins or so later, booted up into Leopard. Everything working (onboard ethernet, PS/2 mouse&keyboard) happily except the 8600GT and audio.

Next, search for and install 10.5.2/OpenGL/NVinject installer package (not sure about putting links to external sites on here. However, Google is your friend...). Result, 8600GT working happily with CI/QE, res changes etc etc etc)

Next, AppleAuziliaAudio.kext patch. Sound semi-working (ALC 888 chipset). Only on output, but good enough for me for now.

Next, Wireless. After fiddling about with various USB devices (ZyDEL 1211B works after a bit of fiddling BTW..),I tried a PCI BT Voyager 1040 wifi card (Broadcom BCM 4306 chipset). Was recognised as a 3rd party Airport device and worked straight out of the box, obviously using the Airport config interface. Happy days.

Next, make the dual boot work and put my IDE devices back in order.

Primary on-board IDE, 120GB XP drive, with my 60Gb Leopard on the secondary. My other 2 IDE devices on the SiL PCI card.

XP boots up happily as it ever does, Google for and install the "chain0" method of dual-boot, reboot and up comes a nice little bootloader screen allowing me to choose XP and OS x86", all working happily. My 2 other IDE devices are not seen in Leopard, but I can live with that for now until I can afford to get myself SATA'ed up.

So, there you go. Working happily, updates from Apple all OK (so far) thanks to the Vanilla Kernel, and everything "Just Works (tm)"
