My friend's new Home system

This is my friends system, I personally don't know much about audio systems
Just wondering what is your opinions?

Audio/Video Digital Receivers --- B & K AVR 307
DVD Player --- Toshiba SD-9200
Main Speakers --- Jamo Concert II
Center Speaker --- Jamo Concert Center
Sourround Speakers --- Jamo Surround II

Subwoofer --- Velodyne CT - 150
Canare connection cables

Addition extansion to dining room
In-Wall Speaker -- SpeakerCraft 6.2MT
Integrated Amplifier --- Rotel RA-971

I know it is a sweet home theater, but if you can find anything better inplace of those Please do suggest

Toss in a Lexicon, Meridian, or Theta Casanova processor
Upgrade speakers to Paradigm or maybe even Legacy Audio

But, what's there is a very nice setup, indeed.

Naw, the Lexicon (if my memory serves) doesn't do stereo worth a crap. If you enjoy listening to music (which my father and I do), you'll want something like Madrigal's AVP. Madrigal's AVP costs $1000 more than the Lexicon, but it'll do everything and more.

What will your friend be using this system for? The Jamo speakers are excellent if you are listening to acoustical music. They don't call them "Concert" for nothing. But they apparently don't make good home theater speakers because they are not designed for the explosive bass in most movies.

The Paradigms probably aren't an "upgrade" like the previous poster suggested. They are wonderful speakers (I own them myself), but I consider them a budget speaker. They just happen to be the best damn speakers you can buy for the price. They do outperform much more expensive speakers, but that doesn't mean that they outperform all speakers.

Yamaha RX-V1995 tuner/amp/etc
Toshiba SD-1600 DVD (yep, it's a cheapie and doesn't play mp3s, but it works great otherwise)
Klipsch 5 speaker system w/14" sub (sorry, forget model #)

Seriously though, is that on rails to get to the back? It looks really nice and clean (except for the empty part on the right.) And it really looks like you're serious about HT. Is that a Panasonic VCR?

We haven't had the time to order more blanks. But, we'll get there one of these days. Actually, we've got several more shelves that need to be added. The one shelf in the right rack now has a DirecTV Tivo sitting on it, along with the stereo modulator and RF receiver (which are in this pic).

It has rails that screw into the front of the rack and you can just pull them right out. I have pics of the backside, but they're not digital. The rails allow us to pull the rack completely out of the hole; allowing one to work on the coax back behind. The left rack is helluva heavy, it bottoms out when pulling it in/out on the rails. I think we have the left one loaded to the maximum weight that the rack will hold; which is something like 800lbs.

The VCR is a Mitsubishi HS-U776. The only reason we have a VCR is for picking up off-air broadcasts. God forbid we actually watch VHS movies.

DCM 10" Mains and matching Center
BIC surrounds
JVC XV-723GD
JVC XV-F85GD
Harman Kardon FL8550
JVC 7200 DISH Network receiver

The next step will be to move to front projection (I like Sharp's new DLP projector) and probably go with Paradigm speakers and, actually, wouldn't mind that B&K AVR307, myself!

Haha, good question! I have absolutely no idea. There's more in the cost than just the equipment. Take for instance, the room. We treated the room with certain materials to absorb sound; such as the entire room has 1/8" of Soundcore rubber under the sheetrock (floor, walls, and ceiling). If it weren't for the subwoofer, the room would be soundproof.
