Alright I just finished listening to it... thoughts:
- a bit of vocals overlapping on the first transition
- when Proper Education is brought in, the vocals seem to be a little fast (I may be wrong though- I've never heard the song before)
- sounded like a bit of clashing bass lines when HBFS Deadmau5 edit came in
- see point 2 for Lovestoned as well
- crank that!? cmon! :frown:
- flanger used a bunch times was too much (well used effects shouldnt be obvious!)
Overall very tight mixing, great job- definately going on the mp3 player You may have also inspired me to post a few of my own mixes on here By the way, just curious what kind of setup you're using? Seems like all the ATOT DJ's are coming out to play lately
I may also download your top trance tunes mix later tonight as well, a lot of great tunes in that one I'll be sure to leave some comments if I do.
Hey thanks for your comments. It was a live mix with very little prep so obviously there were gonna be some errors here and there. Again, it depends on how trained your ear is - and in your case since you also spin, picking out errors should be easy.
-I believe Proper Education was playing at +2-3% so it wasn't that much faster than the original - the vocals in general are just that fast.
-I dont ever recall using the flanger in this mix, except in the 2nd track for like a second or 2. Are you referring to the flanger in the Metallica track because that was actually part of the song.
-Lol @ Crank That. I mixed it in, and then when I went to hear the finished mix later I was like "WTF was I thinking?". Oh well, most people seemed to like it though.
-Bass Clashing - oh man, if you spin any sort of electronic music you should know how difficult it is to avoid that, even when cutting the lows from each track. I believe it's my crappy mixer though since I've spun on my friend's Pioneer mixer and have no issues with that.
Here's the equipment I have: 2 Numark TTX turntables, Numark PPD-01 mixer, Macbook Pro, Stanton Finalscratch 1.5, and Sony V700 headphones.
The mixer is crap and one of the channel faders bleeds. Can't wait to upgrade this to a Pioneer in a few months hopefully. Also, Finalscratch isn't that great - especially after having tried out Serato Scratch Live, so that will be my next upgrade after the mixer. What equipment do you have?
Definitely post your mixes when you get a chance though. Like I said earlier, it would be awesome if we can have an ATOT mix competition, but we need more than 3 djs!
Cheers!
