I've had nothing but problems in the past year as far as my internet connection goes, but here's the story for this one.
I did a speed test on speakeasy.net, and i have a download speed of 1109 kbps and uplaod of 716kbps. I don't know how to interpret speeds so if you could help me out with that while you're here, that'd be great. (tell me if it's crappy or not)
Web sites run just fine, as does downloading from p2p programs. My web page to web page speed is close to instant. It's fine, let's just say.
Howevah, about a week ago I started playing Maple Story again (yes, I was that bored). I get lag spikes about every few minutes, if not more. Some last for up to a minute, some just a few seconds, and rarely they even disconnect me. Now just browsing the internet, I never have gaps in my connection that I notice...I mean I don't have webpages not load or anything, so it doesn't make sense to me. I figured it was just a problem with maplestory's servers. But today, I renewed my WoW membership after like a year. I log on, about 150ms latency...not great but it was fine wtih me. Then I see it start climbing up and soon enough I'm at 2000+ms. (I vaguely remember this happening before I quit WoW, so I don't think it's a problem with the newest patch like many people on the WoW forums are encountering).
I really have no idea what the problem could be. My knowledge on ISPs and internet connections and all that stuff is pretty much zero. If anyone could tell me how this is even possible, or just tell me anything, that would be great.
