i like it. sorta upbet with the red and orange yet also sorta grungy around the edges and washed out colors.

perhaps a little simple but its not bad.

Is that a Rothko

Not bad, however the corners where the black/grey pain over top of the colour fields could use more built up (layer of paints under the black/grey) to show depth.

it sucks!!!!!

j/k

its interesting to say the least; im not much of an art nut, but is it perhaps upside down? The best art i've ever done was oil pastels of a fruit bowl way back in 3rd grade.

Unfortunately, pictures of it turned out poorly. There are six layers of various shades (thinned out paint, dried before each successive coat) and it has a lot of depth when viewed "in real life". I just wish I could figure out how to take better pictures...

Lets see how the next painting turns out...[soup nazi]NEXT![/soup nazi]

YOU DECIDE

what is that?

That is a copper topped table. The metal has been systematically treated with chemicals in a way to create a patina, which is that green you see on bronze statues.

911 does woodworking so I thought he would appreciate it as well

Is this like one of those puzzles where you're only given a small portion of the picture and you have to guess what the image is? It's a window, right?

Man I haven't been to Deviantart in a long time, thanks for reminding me.

The inspiration was from a 2" picture in the LA paper, worked up an image in PS that I liked and started painting. This is the 2" picture next to the painting (enlarged of course) The first version (already sold) was much closer in color to the actual image, but it seemed to lack something so I added the two lines at the top and left side.

Today I start a new painting...

P.S. I like the table WinstonSmith, I'm surprised you remember my desk project from November.

That is really nice. Do you strategically place the scuffs and scrapes, or is it more of a "play around and see what looks good"?

Either way, it looks good.

Good job, and nice house! (or pool anyway)

Thanks, and thanks.

It only took one day for the original (painted background one day, let it dry, and put on all the black the next afternoon) but this one took several days. I "washed" on many layers of transluscent color (really thinned normal paint) to give it some depth. The problem was all the rain we had made the humidity about 100% and dropped the temperature, so it took longer to dry between layers. This one took about five days, when it should have taken 2-3.

P.S. Most of the grunge is semi-random, with strategic lines placed with the edge of very thin cardboard. If you look at the lower right side where the two lines stop short of the edge, you can see the thin lines I am talking about. Like I said, the picture sucks and doesn't show the depth and fine lines at all.

No problem, colour's all relative anyway.
