My new 2.8E

Prescott on paper look good, in fact they look great with 1MB cache etc... But they perform not as well as the Northwoods and they tend to stay hot, meaning you can not reach the speeds you can with a Northwood.

I am currently running a 3.0C at 3.6C 1:1 timings on the memory and it is FAST. I have a 3.0E on a IC7 with the same memory and I can not run it past 3.4 without lock ups. or rebboots...

Prescott was a waste of money for Intel.

u should able to do 3.2 easy. for overclocking, set your timings to SPD or higher then tightening then later, set your agp voltage to 1.6v, vdimm to 2.7-2.8 (or 2.6 if it's max of ur ram), set your ram divider to 5:4 to take our ram as your limiting factor when overclocking, up the FSB by 5mhz or 10mhz increment and boot into windows and check your stability, proceed until you've reach instability in windows or reboots, or can't boot into windows, then raise your vcore by .25 or whatever increment vcore your mobo provides. that's all i can think of, good luck!

Why mess with your AGP voltage when you can lock the clock at 66MHZ?

ppl said it's suppose to help stability at higher FSB when overclocking since the voltage to AGP bus is used by the NB, i'm not overclocking the AGP bus, only the memory bus requiring more voltage fir stability

Exactly, it is a myth that you need to bump the voltage on your AGP bus, I can get 100% stability on all OC's with the 875P or 865PE boards without OC the AGP bus.

I stand corrected on my prescott, with a slight upping in the voltage to 1.465v I just finished a full set of benchmarks at 3.41Ghz(244Mhz fsb). Running an average of 62c under full load after 10 minutes, using hotcpu burn in.

Amen brother. I have never needed to up the AGP voltage and that is running at over 280 FSB 100% stable.

Has anyone had a problem with their 2.8E

I'm in the middle of trouble shooting. I had a computer get an electrical surge. I've tried a new mobo and new 2.8E cpu in the case that was hit. I'm wondering if a surge can damage the case wiring or the power button in the case. Please don't laugh - I'm learning as I go. Luckily I think I'll be able to get warranty coverage on the mobo and cpu that was hit. I kind of think it may just be the 3.0 P4 that's damaged - still waiting on a new case to arrive to do more tests. My surge protector worked - but the surge came through the cable modem and router. So - from here on out - it's wireless Linksys USB for internet.
