No rice, subtle styling, as much stock as possible with small changes here and there to make it look my own.

Putting an air freshener inside your car is already considered rice around here.

I personally like the new front end a lot better.

I do as well. I don't get all the hate against the 06. Personally, I have always thought the MY04-05 are the ugliest (which is literally why I own an MY03 bugeye).

Hey, I thought you hated all of Portland's Subarus.

I think the new front makes the WRX look less like a toy and more like a high end sedan. It's probably the only Subaru I like. I'd still take an Evo8/9 over an STI, though.

I just don't agree with that.

Why did you debadge it?
Because it should be done. The S-U-B-A-R-U across the back is hideous.

Bingo! Plus, from what I can tell, badges are an after thought for designers, a requirement of the marketing team more then a function of the design.

Maybe the 02/03 Silver Bugeye, I always had a soft spot for it

Traded in a 2005 Toyota Celica GT about two weeks ago.

I have currently debadged, tinted, new grills and installed extra gauges on this bad girl.

How big a financial hit did you take when you traded in a 2005 for a 2005?

Well I made a 5000 down payment, so I probably took a hit of about 3000 added to my loan.

I wish I made enough money to afford a 2005 WRX. I'd still never buy a new car. I just wish I made more money.

True, new car is a kick in the butt. But I have a well paying job after years of school, and figured I would keep this car till the loan was payed off.

I did lose some money on the trade in, but I needed AWD for the winter. The 06 are cool and more improvements, but the 05 is a tried and true design with lots of options.

How ever did you manage before?

Well, I had a Honda Passport, but then thought I was moving and got a cool 2wd car, then decided not to move and needed AWD. So I got the car I really wanted five years ago. Long drawn out writhing attempt.
