congrats! I'm itching to get a 3 series this year, maybe in a couple of months I heard that price-wise it's almost the same as getting it straight from munich and shipping it here. The cost savings almost covers the cost of the trip? Is that true?

nonsense, good rims are an excellent add on. Some nice 21" Lexani's on that would be super sick! You could argue after market rims are a waste of money, especially a brand like Lexani which can cost over $100,000 for the jewel encrusted ones But they can add so much to an already killer auto, the X5 is such a nice car it can only improve what's already sweet. Nice rims are nothing but a luxury, but at the same time so is an X5. A Nissan Xterra will do basically the same thing. I wouldn't go extreme with 24"'s that are too blingy but some nice, subtle rims ++++! that's just my opinion though.

if I got an X5 first 2 things I would do would put some rims on it and upgrade the stereo to something crazy.

How do I say this... some people have good taste.

I looked through their entire wheel collection on their website and didn't find any that could be described as "subtle." The fact that they have rap music playing on their website should tell you something.

Not everyone that buys an X5 is looking for something super sick, sweet or killer

It's pretty close, but most people that do it don't do so for a cost savings. It's fun to see your car in Germany, drive it on the Autobahn, etc. and then get it at home. The only downside is that you have to wait to get it.

It's called European Delivery if you're curious. Googling around can yield a lot of results. I almost did it for our car, but couldn't work out the timing.

A friend of mine has an X5 with the V8 and I'd have to say it is hands down the nicest SUV I've ever driven. Handling and road feel is excellent, brakes are excellent, luxurious, lots of power, and it just feels tight all around.

Congrats man. Nice ride.

I thought you hated SUVs.

Congrats! Looks great!

I'd think about getting one but it doesn't have enough storage space for me.

I've been waiting and waiting for the twin turbo from the 335 to appear in the X5 but they haven't done it and I couldn't wait any longer. It's still only a remote possibility for MY2009. The '09 X6 will only get the twin turbos (3.0 & 4.4) so I don't know what the hold up is here. They're releasing a twin turbo diesel X5 for MY2009 for the 1st time in the US though. Guinea pigging would be a bad idea, however.

Acura MDX squeezes 300HP out of a 3.7L V6 without a turbo.

And yea thats a nice ride rh71. I really like the MDX but I'll probably take one of these out for a test too.

Welcome to the Bimmer family, I got my 335i last June and love it.

Just don't drive like a snob, I hate it when other Bimmer drivers drives like an asshole which gives us a bad name.
