It seems that u have isolated the problem and it seems a VGA problem. While the card is not at all old, you could always doublecheck the voltage specifications for the AGP slot (both M/B and VGA) and another option is the CMOS reset jumper (unplugging the cmos battery does the same). Try booting with a PCI VGA if u can find one.

see i thought about that but i am not sure cuz i tried clearing the CMOS a few times beside that V card is a GF3 Ti200 128MB and i am on it NOW with my KT7A-Raid.
i checked the manual there is no jumper for the AGP slot that i might have to worry about. also there is a guy that i talked to that got the same board, said that he didnt have to change anything to boot up.

try the pci vga as a last resort and if all is the same start talking about warranty issues. I've seen before m/b being "totally fried" just out of the box (it's my job as a tech to check these) and keep smiling ok? Go out with your girl or something.

Did u plug all three connectors on the Motherboard when you first powered the thing? If so you've burned it 99.9% I've seen the case with a QDI Platinix2A. Only the M/B was burned (showing similar symptoms -won't boot etc) all else was ok.

I think he must be talking serious-I guess the manual implies all 3 connectors must be used in a nonP4 PSU (and that's not definite) like stated in my ASUS P4T-E book where the AUX is declared "optional" . Think about it-isn't a hell lot of voltage power supply to the mobo this way??

well i have a question concerning the heatsink and CPU. say you dont wanna use that wax crap stuff that came on the retail heatsink, do you take the whole pad off? you know that aluminum thing that got the wax on the bottom of the hs? or you just apply your thermal on top of the pad after you whip all the wax off?

OK, let me jump I here, I had a P4S333, that would not post, no beeps no voice, no video, only power. I returned it for a P4S533, installed it and and it says ?CPU failed self test? much like what is happening to DinoGucci.

So do I realy have a bad CPU? DinoGucci, any resolution yet?

Also on the three power connector issue, I did connect all three the P4S333 (the board I returned) but on the new one I did not, it appears the EZPlug is just for PSU that don?t have the ATX12V1 connector. Would it fry the mobo if you connected all three, I don?t think so, or Asus would put a big warning.

Asus GF3 8200

nothing beats having alot of spare parts around.

i feel really bad for you guys - the only way to truely find out whats bad is to get another board and cpu and start testing you could always RMA/sell stuff later once youre running.

can you guys find someone locally to test the cpus for you on a known good system?
playing guessing games with RMA is not fun

dude i reseated everything a million times. MINE said " NO CPU INSTALLED" and the CPU was fine. it must be something defective with the SOCKET itself.

Mine actually said "System failed CPU test".

If you reseated yours many times I would check to see if you have not bent a pin by mistake.

What happens to the PCI bus on the P4S533 during overclocking? That is, if you boost the FSB 50% from 100 to 150 Mhz (generally easy with a 1.6a), does the PCI bus also get a 50% boost in speed, or is it fixed at 33 Mhz? For the AGP bus?

I sure would be nervous about running my PCI cards (and the disk controller) at 44 Mhz... I know the 845d can lock the PCI and AGP buses at spec regardless of the O/C.

Thanks,
Frob
