My Roommate's Halloween Costume

Engadget is having a halloween costume contest, and last years winner had a working screen to create a "working" digital camera. So we decided to create a working Nintendo DS. The bottom screen is my tablet PC, which controls both monitors.

2 Days, It took me about 4 hours to build the frame.

The only thing that kicked me a little bit was the hand written labeling of the buttons. No biggy, but think I would have gone with something you could have printed out on an inkjet printer for cheap, that might have looked a little better.
The concept, though is great!

Two other things that came to mind while watching the video:
1. Was it tough, getting close enough to talk to people? Or taking a drink? Or peeing???
2. You guys must be computer geeks......cuz only a computer geek would cut pvc pipe with a dremel!!! LOL

1. We're such big nerds that we never even left the apartment with it.

2. I've built an entire coffee table with a dremel. I posted it here... It is a sweet table.

On the contrary, it actually flips up like a real DS. I made sure to build a hinge. THAT was a BITCH to make.

should've dressed in a mario costume at least. also, the buttons..handwritten?! c'mon man. lol Should've at least used thin wood sheets and painted it white w/ car paint . Well, honestly, I'm not digging hatt white paper cover w/ handwritten and crooked buttons

I think it's pretty funny you guys go through all of the effort of piping for the frame, then use cardboard and handwriting!!

I completely agree, unfortunately, my roommate was the one who paid for it, and didnt want to spend any extra effort on the outside of it. I wanted to cover it in foam core, but at $3 a sheet it would have been rediculous. He also didnt want to wait for me to print out anything.
