Glad to hear she is fine.
Before she kills someone else or herself she should be taken off the road!
Time for her to get a bus schedule.
This.

It was just a misunderstood phrase. She got it 'way back' in March. Like a long time ago, only not.
People learn to drive by example. She would not naturally start driving too fast for conditions.
So who was it, the OP or her parents who drove her around like that??
My cousin's 3 YO girl was playing like she was driving a car at my aunt's. She would periodically look over to the side and say "IDIOT". Dad is a bit of an aggressive driver.

After I read she was asian, I proceeded to the reply box.
There is no hope for this one. Some people can drive cars well enough to keep a license, and some can't. Your wife is of the latter group. Tell her you're getting an older car and you'll replace it with a newer one after 1 year of good behavior. If she doesn't like it, then too bad.

Actually, these are bad habits she is picking up all on her own. Myself, and her friend that has been helping teach her are both very conservative drivers. We kept telling her to slow down, and trying to warn her. As many have pointed out, she is acting like a teenager in many regards, like it could never happen to her. Well it does, and it did...
The other day she came home and told me that the person next to her was trying to race her... I've been driving for 20years, and I can say that no one has every tried to race me... I'm thinking this is all in her head, she thinks that people are out there to try and compete or something. Have to get her back to the point A to Point B transportation idea. Its not a game.
Anyway, She's ok with getting the lesser car at this point, so, thanks for the help guys

heh, women... amirite?
All kidding aside, glad to hear she's OK.
I was riding with a girl in highschool down the interstate. She swerved to avoid hitting a squirrel and we went spinning into the median. Needless to say I yelled at her until she started crying, then drove myself home to get my car. Who the hell swerves going 70mph to avoid a damn squirrel?

No DUI, no charges filed. She was driving solo, coming home from work. She never lost it previously... She is a new driver...
She has done some classes, and has her license. I'm hoping she is having one of those lightbulb moments crashing the car and all. But even out on her test drives with a couple of cars, I wasn't feeling any change in her attitude, still taking curves to fast, and not controlling her speed.
As far as paying for it, we share our finances, so its not me, and its not her... its our decision. Perhaps that makes it more difficult right about now.

If she hasn't learned her lesson, then buy her a bus pass. She obviously is not mature enough to be driving a car if she drives like that. She's lucky that she only got brusied up a little. You need to take the kid gloves off and show your wife what can happen when driving like she does. Sit her ass down and make her look at the gruesome stuff online of car wrecks. Find news stories of people killing whole families because they couldn't take the time to slow down.
And if you don't have kids with her now, absolutely make sure you don't have kids with her until she can show some improvement in her maturity levels.
Oh, and say hello to a rate increase on your insurance.

It's been said, but I'm going to say it again.
Clearly, she's not ready for a nice car. Get her a dirt-cheap, sub-$1K, mid-90s Honda or something. Basically, something that she couldn't fuck up, and if she did, it wouldn't be a huge loss of money. Oh, and make sure the insurance hike comes out of her paycheck.
