I can just press the first letter of whatever I want to skip to on my keyboard, or I could search... I just don't find myself scrolling through thousands of songs too often.
It is something that I do when I don't know what I want to listen to, or want to just throw random songs into a playlist. I just go through the list and say 'ooh, this is good', something that just sparks when I see the title.
I've never used the spacebar to play\pause. I think my last 5 keyboards have had dedicated media buttons that are bigger and more accessible than the spacebar anyways.
Dude, have you seen a spacebar? How on earth could there be a dedicated media button on anything that is bigger and more accessible than a space bar? It is the single largest key on the whole board, and the easiest to get to. A simple thwack to play/pause the music. I kind of wish that the media keys on my keyboard worked (Apple Aluminum), but the controls on the jump list are a nice compromise.
I admittedly don't use SmartDJ very often, so I'm not familiar with buying music generated from it. I imagine if it generates it in a "Now playing" page, then it's probably a PITA to buy. I don't understand why right clicking on the Now Playing page doesn't offer you the same context menu choices as right clicking anywhere else in the Zune software. Anyway, I usually just buy whatever the best sellers\top 40 are.
Ok, if you go to 'More Album Info' or something like that, you can then get to buy the music, which is easier than on the phone, but it isn't exactly clear like crystal.
I don't know if the playlist text is blurry on the Zune HD, it's pretty high resolution packed onto a tiny screen, it's just that they make the font very faint and it's also very small. Fortunately the new MS Devices chief confirmed a new Zune is on the way just a few days ago. Though I don't think minute detail resolution should be your focus while you're driving.
If I can glance over quickly and clearly read what the next few songs are, that is certainly better than looking over quickly and having to squint or grab the player. At this point I just use my phone, no real difference, but it wouldn't hurt to have a dedicated player again.
