that way you're running stock, don't need extra cooling, will have a fast comp and won't void the warranties of the memory or CPU ?

Yeah, I may actually consider that idea, however...
3000+ = $239
Zalman7000 = $62
PC4000 RAM = $298
Total = $599
3400+ = $409
PC3200 RAM = $232
Total = $641
Although the extra $50-or-so would get me the ideal stock, faster 3400+, do you think that difference alone would be worth it? Is the 3400+ that much faster than an o/c'ed 3000+?
I think it'd be worth $50 to run more quiet, have more stability and peace of mind but that's just me.

you can get a small over clock with stock/low end parts.
what most people do is get a slower a64(say a 3000+) and overclock it to a 3400+ while spending money on ram thats been given good reviews and shown decent overclocks.
check out the ram article anandtech just did, if i remember right the pc3500 from ocz was one of the highest overclockers, and shikira(sp?) ram seemed to be pretty good to for overclock. either way, read the ram article.
