BURGER, Dale A. Jr., 21, Cpl., Marines; Port Deposit, Md.; First Marine Division.
I listened to NPR's 'Morning Edition' on the way home, and the story of this young man and his father tore my heart. His father had passed away in May of this year, after an operation to ease pain in his arm. He was a Viet Nam vet who was severely injured.

"Dale Burger, Jr., followed his father into the Marines. Burger was killed in the Fallujah offensive and will be buried near his father at Arlington National Cemetery."
Link to article and audio clip.
His mother is alone now, so incredibly tragic.

FAULKENBURG, Steven W., 45, Command Sgt. Maj., Army; Huntingburg, Ind.; Second Battalion, Second Infantry Regiment.
In 1994, then-MSG Faulkenburg was a branch NCOIC up at Department of the Army. He provided assistance to another branch chief regarding my Drill Sergeant packet. I remember his visit to our ANCOC class at Fort Benning. From my knowledge of CSM Faulkenburg, he was a very dedicated, hard-charging and caring professional. My heart goes out to his soldiers and his family.

HICKS, Gregory B., 35, Sergeant First Class, Army; Duff, Tenn.; 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry Regiment.
Greg died in January of this year, before this thread began. I learned of his death not long ago. From my understanding, he first suffered wounds in a firefight. A dust-off was called in to evac him and others to the rear. While enroute to the field hospital, the bird was shot down, killing all aboard.

We served together in Germany during the 90s. When thinking of Greg, I'll always carry this picture in the mind's eye of a vibrantly active yet somewhat innocent, down-to-earth young man from Tennessee. We spoke occasionally about things like UT football, the mid-south region and life in general. He was an outstanding soldier and a great man. Personally speaking, his death came as a shock.
