need a new "gaming" mouse

My MX1000 unfortuantely today has died after like 4 years since i got it, i could not see myself using another mice because the most important thing to me for a mouse is the number of buttons, how they are conveniently layed out and the ability to program/profile them. FPS wise i can say this mouse has made me spolied in terms of mapping keys with the uberoptions. For instance i can map prone,jump,crouch on the three thumb buttons in that order and right tilt on the scroll wheel for running and the top arrow button just above the scroll wheel for reloading weapon, it got so easy to get used to this because its so damn comfortable lol, simply makes perfect sense. For general use its also spolied me a bit since i can easily do the alt+ tab command with the middle thumb button and X out of windows with the press of the scroll wheel button. Now im in need of something similar so i can maintain these usage habits.

I am wondering if anyone knows what mouses out there have atleast 8 extra buttons like the MX1000 (that # doesn't include the standard left/right and up and down scroll wheel). I prefer not to have more than one button below the scroll wheel since that is not good a position at all while playing intense games likes FPS.

I dont mind wireless or wired just anything that resembles this discontinued product , I know about that bluetooth combo that includes this mouse but i heard bad news about the bluetooth version.

hopefully there is something out there that fits my description i really need a replacement had to use my keyboard alone just to post this couldnt bother to research mice handicapped like this lol

I have a MX1000 but I only use it for everyday use. I use a Nostromo N52 and G7 for gaming.

A G9 is a great option if you don't mind a cord.

Though it's not a good gaming mouse(which the MX1000 isn't either), the MX Revolution is on sale at BB for $39 in Hot Deals

yes speaking of that i got it very early today and gave a test spin and boy this MX revolution might be better than the MX 1000! though mx1000 i found to be much smoother in movement but i still kicked butt in one Cod4 match and hl 2 dm. My hand is yet to get used to the layout of this mouse but its definately a great replacement to the MX 1000 for gaming and non gaming use.

I heard (and read) only the best about Roccat Kone. Even though I'm a hardcore logitech mouse fan I'd be willing to give it a try myself.
