Need a new Grill

Need a new grill. Price range $300-500. Leaning propane. GF has a charcoal grill which we use now at her place and I'm thinking propane is more convenient for cooking smaller meals in less time with less mess.

Thoughts and opinions?

Most likely out of your price range but Weber makes high quality stuff. I've had about 4 different had grills from various brands and the Weber is the one that has lasted the longest. Replacement parts are easy to find. You pay more now, but will save money in the long term.

The two burner version I guess isn't produced anymore but the others are the same thing just larger. You could get a four burner within your price range with instore coupons and whatnot I'm sure.

I love the grill. Gets hot and ready really fast. The thing grills whatever I put on there to perfection. I'm not much griller but it seems to be impossible to mess up something on there. Meat always comes out perfectly cooked, juicy, ect.. Clean up is a bit more then a normal grill as you have to take the grates off and hit them with a wire brush every once and a while but its not a chore. Only thing I would do differently is get a larger version. Once this one I use now goes kaput ill defiantly be buying another.

Is natural gas an option? It's definitely worth spending the money to get the line put in. Same cooking performance as natural gas but not tanks to refill.

I believe the lowest end Weber propane grills are around $500, so they're in the discussion. I guess am I going to be losing out on btu, cooking area, extra options by going with a Weber at that price range.

Unfortunately no, it's not an option, that convenience would be a huge bonus.

That's too bad. NG is a big bonus if you want to grill stuff that takes a long time to cook, like roasts.

I also have the Charbroil Infrared - the three burner variety. I've had it about three years now and still love it. I considered spending more and getting the equivalent Weber, and I don't regret the decision not to at all.

Does it have to be new? I just got a used Weber Genesis Silver series with a side burner off CL for a mere $75 that was extra clean and well kept with 2 LP tanks thrown in to boot (owner moved from house to apt and had to get rid of it). Watched CL for 2 months and got lucky but I recall someone else on here got a similar deal as well. Those Weber grill are built like tanks and don't rust out and fall apart after a couple years. I know because I bought the same Weber model 12 yrs ago new off Amazon for $400 back then and had to sell it when I moved last year *tears*. It was still rocking and would probably last another 12 yrs+ easy. Getting the replacement at my new place was like welcoming back an old friend.

Fish is amazing off a Traeger btw (plus anything else...chicken etc.). If you get the digital thermostat (on sale right now for $70 from Traeger), you can precisely control the temperature a lot more, and do smoking on it (as low as 180F). Make sure you get food-grade pellets - not the kind of heating (chemicals & all). You can get a lot of different flavors by using different kinds of wood pellets. If you like flame-grilled stuff, you'll still want a cheap charcoal or gas grill, like for burgers...this is more of a smoker-convection oven, for convenience & test, than a flamethrower like a regular grill.

Lots of friends have them, they are great - just super expensive. Look up Kamado Joe vs. Big Green Egg - people seem to like the Joe's better. If you are super into charcoal, there's probably nothing better than a kamado-style grill.

Weber quality in an affordable price and small footprint. Heats quick because it isn't Gigantor sized.

Question for you charbroil users. How long have you all had yours? Some less than great reviews I'm seeing indicate pretty big rust issues after 1-1.5 years.
