Need a Video Card

I remember seeing something about a video card being able to be connected to a computer through USB or some other external adapter.

Right now I have a compaq laptop with 512mb PC2100 and a P4B 2.4 with ATI M345 IGP that uses shared memory.

hm..i havent heard of that one before. i 0n0 how u can do that since you can only have 1 functioning video card on a computer at a time and how would you deal with having 2 drivers for video in the laptop? i'd really like to get a video upgrade on my laptop too, but i dont see how.

I think I saw it on a mx 400 at walmart or something like that I would use the external card for my video card and i guess I would have to figure a way out how to disable the IGP

"SFF, Notebooks" forum is where you will find people who might know about this. It is hard to believe any externally connected graphics could outperform the internal graphics, even if it can be done.

But, you CAN have multiple video cards and drivers. It is not that unusual. Additional cards are all PCI. They used to have demos of this a lot when XP was introduced. I've tried it just for fun. Having onboard AGP graphics and an AGP card both function has been impossible.
