Need advice on KVM switch

I am looking to buy a KVM switch to use one monitor between two PC's. My question is if the resolution of my monitor is 2560 X 1440 and the KVM supports 1920 X 1200 won't this affect the quality? I use one PC for home and office, the other is for photography editing. The KVM I am looking at is a Linkskey LDV-302ARC because it supports Full time/Active DDC Function.

I think you are going to have a hard time finding a KVM to do 1440p. I'd recommend just setting up remote access on one or the other rather than a KVM.

How would I go about that? I am just going to use the one pc for photo editing, this is for home use. I am a semi-professional photographer. Would it be easier to just have two monitors? Don't really want to because of the space issue of course.

Other possible solutions are to use a monitor with (if your existing monitor does not already have) multiple inputs (typically, you press front panel button(s) to swap inputs, i.e. choose which PC you want to see), where at least two of the extra ports support 1440P (such as multiple dual link DVI sockets), or a dual link DVI KVM.

EDIT: If you go the dual-link DVI route, (for each channel you want to support 1440p) all (DVI) cables, monitor DVI ports (they almost certainly WILL BE for 1440p monitors), KVMs and connected to graphics card(s) or motherboard dvi connectors MUST BE dual-link DVI, in order for display resolutions above 1980 x 1200 to be available e.g. 1440p

As mentioned in my previous post. You really need a DUAL-LINK DVI version to get 1440P. Unfortunately, the KVM you mention is NOT a dual linked one, so DOES NOT apparently support 1440P, SORRY!

EDIT: Also, I forgot. Display port also can support 1440P, but you need to make sure that your monitor AND motherboard/graphics card also support 1440P via display port. If I remember correctly, not all display port interfaces support more than 1980 by 1200.

DVI-D single link supports 1920x1200 and DVI-D Dual link supports 2560x1440. You will need to buy a KVM Switch that supports DVI-D Dual link to get the desired video resolution of 2560x1440. I would recommend checking KVMSwitchTech as they offer a wide range of KVM Switch solutions.
