Hi,
I'm looking to upgrade my workstation to Woodcrests 5160 probably using 5000x chipset with support for full x16 PCI-E, but I found myself in a weird situation on picking out the card.
Here's the thing. I'm looking for a graphics card that will give me great performance but I am aware that I don't need a super gaming card.
Here's what I do. I do creative work, Photoshop, Flash, 3d studio max, Video composition and stuff like that. I am looking for a graphics card that will spin everything fast, but this machine I'm building will not really be used for gaming. Okay, I may fire up CS:S or some game from time to time, but I have a dedicated machine for this anyways with 7800GTX card in it so that's pretty covered to begin with.
Now, I don't want to spend like $2k on a professional workstation graphics, I'm just looking for something at around $400-$500.
My question is basically how much difference will I experience for what I need this new video card from let's say 7800GTX or ATI X1900XT and 7950GX2 with 1gb of video ram.
What do I get with workstation graphics like Quadro or FireGL over gaming cards? I've never really got into these things, but I do need a fast and good video card.
Thanks for your input.
