this article is about something that helps prevent babies dying from SIDS, a friend of mine lost their son to SIDS

but i can't figure out what they mean by "dummies" , at first i thought they were talking about a baby doll or something like a crash test dummy type thing, but i don't think that is what they mean after reading the whole thing

are they talking about pacifiers?

Pram is short for Perambulator, which is the proper term for a baby carriage.

...a translation of the Latin perambulare, "to walk through". In common speech this became purley or purlew.

Perambulare is also the origin of perambulate, perambulation and perambulator (= American "baby carriage") which became shortened to pram.
