Does anyone know when the "8800gt" will actually hit the market? I just built a new machine and would like to get an 8800 as well but don't want to spend $ on a GTS if a this better card, for less money is right around the corner (say a couple weeks). Or will it be announced in a couple weeks and on shelves in a couple months?

Alright, thanks guys. If setting the memory to 800MHz is all I have to do and up the voltage to 1.9, then I can cope with that.
Excuse the cluelessness, never ever worked with these things

I'm wondering the same. I was going to buy parts for a new system a couple days ago but now I'm holding off to wait for these new cards coming out. Hopefully they don't end up coming out in December or January.

First, read the conclusions on the 8800GTS 320MB Fatal1ty card here.

Then go buy it for $329 (I know, I can't believe this price either) here.

Thank me later.

Fudzilla is peddling a release date of November 15.

I already got XFX GeForce 8800GTS Fatal1ty 320MB Thanks anyhow, I forgot to mention it ^^
I do have one question regarding it though, I don't understand all the PSU stuff, I read on an MSI 8800GTS you need a 28Ampere power connector, so I checked my PSU Atrix-500T.

DC Rail - lmax(lpeak)
+3.3VDC - 30A
+5VDC - 30A
+12VDC1 - 14A(16A)
+12VDC2 - 15A(18A)
Some more rails but all are very low amperage so I'll remove them. Can anyone tell by this if any of these are the VGA connector or must I wait and then try and see? The GFX card recomends 425 so my PSU should be fine with 2HDDs and 1 CD-RW, unless something is very very wrong.

Yay for no name PSU's. It will prolly run fine, but this is the first thing I noticed when I googled for Atrix-500T.

"The power supply to my computer (Atrix 500TG) has just blown, how likely is it that it could have destroyed my hard drive, motherboard and graphics card. I do not currently have access to an alternative to test. Any ideas?"

So my question to you is, do you want a 25$ POS psu take out some of your expensive PC components, or not? If you got a fry's near ya, go pick up a antec earthwatts 500w for 50$ and at least sleep with a clean conscience at night

What for? When it's possible that the 8800GT will be able to compete at the resolution he will be running. Not to mention the 2950

Then WHY WHY WHY did you make a thread asking about video cards if you already bought one!?

Because at that time I didn't have one, after the feedback and help I got about memory of 640GTS/768GTX, I just searched for the fastest 320GTS, ordered it and came back home and saw it in the thread

The 8800 GTS Fatal1ty has 96SPs at 1.5GHz vs 112SPs at 1.5GHz for the 8800GT. I think we'll need to see some benchmarks to compare which one will perform better at SM3.0 functions given the bandwidth difference (64 bits).

Yeah, that's pretty much the conclusion I came to as well when I spotted the Fatal1ty 320 card yesterday. I'm surprised/disappointed none of the major hardware sites have put this card through the ringer to see just how good/bad it really is, the few reviews I could find were mostly performed using somewhat dated games. However, that said, in those games it appeared to be only 5-10% behind the GTX even at resolutions up to 1920x1200 indicating that less memory/bandwidth and fewer shaders wasn't really limiting performance.

I say for sure no question at all to go with the msi 8800gts 640mb oc becuase i own it and it is fantastic. My dad's computer has an evga 8800ultra (my dad wont let me use it) and i can see no difference AT ALL. The msi I can play all of my games (Oblivian mainly, stalker, FEAR, and even Biosock) with ALL full settings, and i dont think i have ever had one glitch or fr problem. Espessially because you can only go to 1280-1024. (I play at 1600-1200)

My new rig That I built for under $1400! (minus the monitor)
Msi NX8800gts 640mb oc

NZXT Guardian X5 80mm fans
ATI HDTV wonder tv tunner
Sound Blaster Audigy 4 SB610

Dell 30" 1600-1200 HD monitor
