Need help deciding on monitor

Trying to decide between the:
-Viewsonic E790 19"
-Samsumg 753 DF 17",
-Viewsonic E771 17"
-Optiquest Q71 17"
-KDS VS195 and 195E 19"

Clarity, crispness of text and numbers, and reliability the most important (other than price). Trying to find the best deal.

Will I notice the difference bw .24 and .27 Diag DP?

All of your choices are pretty good, imho. I see you've included only one 19incher...I'm wondering why? Possibly your outside spending limit might be helpful here. There are other coupons and rebates available from different sources.

I have $225 in flooz for outpost.com and (expect to have soon) about $290 in Amazon GCs. I also want to buy the Plextor 12/10/32 [at outpost (amazon doesn't stock it)]- so that leaves me getting the monitor at amazon.

I don't really want to spend $100+ extra for the 19"- preferring to get a really nice 17 " (like the samsung, but amazon doesn't carry it) to a crappy 19". But I am toying with the 19" ones, regardless:
Viewsonic GS790
Optiquest Q95
KDS 195(E)

I'm leaning towards the GS790 in the 19" but would have to shell out $100+. On the KDS vs195, the GCs would almost completely cover it. I read the other thread on KDS and got talked out of it, esp them sending refurbs on warranty work.

So I don't know what to do. Maybe I'll stall and amazon will get the plextor burner soon?????? Then I can get the samsung at outpost.

Is the difference between .24 & .27 diagonal DP noticable?

I wouldn't buy a monitor until I've seen in it person first to judge. That's always my #1 priority for video equipment.

As you probably know, you can't do that with video cards, so I just buy from a place such as Best Buy, and if it has crappy 2D or doesn't o/c well, then you just return it, since it's defective (well, the 2D, anyhow).

I got a E771 and its very good for it's price. Vibrant colours, 87h @1024 768, easy to use on-screen controls. But the screen isn't very flat, it's not comparable to a sony flat-screen. But it's price isn't comparable to it either.

i dunno how good the other listed monitors are, though.

I want to get a new monitor as well from amazon.com. Preferrably a 19 inch or 21 incher. Good question stingygrrl. Bump for both of us

When you view monitors at a retail store, it's very hard to make an accurate estimation as theu are run a low refresh and you normally don't get the chance to try different settings. You can get an idea of the controls. Some can be confusing. Finding one of your exact models might be difficult.

Be aware that there are lots of 'games' played with the Dot Pitch specification. I doubt on a 17 incher it is a real issue anyway.

The Samsung is a safe bet and I've never read of and disatisfied Viewsonic E771 owners.
